Commitment To The Community
Appearances by Players and Coaches
The special bond between the Green Bay Packers and the community is never more apparent than when the players volunteer their time at schools, hospitals, fundraisers and other community events and programs. During 2006, players and coaches made nearly 450 special appearances. - More Info
Donations
The Green Bay Packers reach is unmistakable and provides many opportunities for charities to benefit from the team's success. Donating merchandise to non-profit groups is another Packers tradition. The team's unmatched following creates a great demand for autographed memorabilia, which is demonstrated by the fact that signed items donated to nearly 8,000 charities raised more than $2.5 million in 2006. The events supported by Packers donations included benefits, charity auctions and raffles, in addition to school and community fundraisers.

In addition to grants from the Green Bay Packers Foundation, separate cash donations to local charities and fundraisers have topped $2.1 million over the past year. This includes donations to youth football through the NFL of approximately $1 million. - More Info
Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer
In its third year, the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer was again a great success as nearly 1,000 bikers, Packers players and staff members hit the pavement for a worthy cause. Parins, Director of Corporate Security for the Green Bay Packers and a motorcycle enthusiast from an early age, coordinated the first annual Cruise just 16 months after being diagnosed with cancer. The 120-mile motorcycle ride has raised approximately $100,000 for various cancer-related organizations, many of which he encountered during his treatment at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay. - More Info
Brown County Children's Charity Golf Classic
The Brown County Golf Course was the site of the third annual Brown County Children's Charity Golf Classic, sponsored in part by the Green Bay Packers. The event raised approximately $9,500, and the proceeds were given to produce a video encouraging alcohol and drug prevention among youth. Bob Harlan was joined by other members of the Green Bay Packers administrative staff, as well as players Rob Davis and Brady Poppinga.
Heart Cap Campaign
In the second year of a three-year partnership, the Green Bay Packers and American Family Insurance teamed up to raise funds for the fight against heart disease, with special support from Coach Mike McCarthy. Throughout the 2006 season and in the months following, the Green Bay Packers Pro Shop sold more than 90,000 heart caps, which bear the Packers "G" logo, a green and gold heart, and the logo of sponsor American Family Insurance. Eight statewide organizations, focused on heart disease research, prevention and support, received a portion of the proceeds from the campaign, which totaled over $450,000.
Welcome Back Packers Luncheon
Hosted by the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, the Welcome Back Packers Luncheon is held each year to welcome the players and coaching staff back to the area for the upcoming football season. During the luncheon in 2006, the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Bubba Franks for the exceptional impact he has made on the community and awarded him the 2006 Community Service Award.
FanTiXchange Program
The FanTiXchange program offers a seamless and secure way to assist Packers season-ticket holders in reselling their tickets to members of the Packers Partners Club of Champions, the team's official fan club. The program creates a win-win situation for season-ticket holders, Packers Partners members looking to take in a game at Lambeau Field, and a local charity to which the proceeds from the program are donated. This year, the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay was the grateful recipient of a nearly $6,000 donation. The funds will help them to provide a safe, educational and fun place for over 7,500 local youth. - More Info
Lambeau Field Concession Stands
At Lambeau Field, volunteers staff the concession stands on game days with proceeds going to community groups throughout the area. Through this cooperative effort between the Packers and Levy Restaurants, $675,000 was generated for the 64 community organizations that participated in 2006.
Midwest Shrine Game
For more than 55 years, the Packers have designated one preseason game as the Midwest Shrine Game. Each year at the game, the Packers make a donation to the Shrine Tripoli Temple, which operates Shriner's Hospitals for Children. The facilities provide specialized medical services to children at absolutely no cost. Designated proceeds from the game were donated to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Chicago, a facility specializing in helping children with orthopedic needs, where kids from Wisconsin are often sent for treatment. To date, the donations have totaled over $3 million. - More Info
Bishop's Charities Game
Since 1961, the Packers have designated one preseason game at Lambeau Field as the Bishop's Charities Game. Over the years from this game, the Packers have given in excess of $3.3 million to the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay. - More Info
Internships
As an organization, the Packers employ more than 150 people full-time and more than 250 people part-time. The Packers also offer internships to young adults in several areas of the organization. The accounting, information technology, marketing, public relations, ticketing, training and video departments all provide interns with valuable experience to add to their college class work or professional training. Coaching also offers a minority internship.
Madeline Harlan in the Community
In the spirit of enriching the community in which she and Bob have lived for 36 years, and where they will continue to reside in retirement, Madeline Harlan is a member of the Friends of St. Mary's Hospital Board of Directors in Green Bay. She served as Honorary Chairperson of the Capital Campaign for the new state-of-the-art Emergency Room at St. Mary's. The campaign raised over $3.5 million, and the Emergency Room serves nearly 50,000 patients a year. During the campaign, St. Mary's received its first $1 million gift since its founding 100 years ago.

Madeline is also on the Resource Development Committee of Libertas, a drug treatment center located in Green Bay for adolescents and adults, and serves on the cabinet for the organization's capital campaign. In addition, Madeline and Bob are on the Board of Trustees of the Veritas Society, a media awareness project of the Wisconsin Right to Life.

Recently, the Harlan family received two honors from the Green Bay community. First, Madeline, Bob and their three sons, Kevin, Bryan and Mike, were selected as a YWCA Family of Distinction. The Families of Distinction awards were established to recognize families in the Green Bay area who make a difference by living their lives in exemplary ways.

And, second, St. Norbert College in DePere presented Madeline and Bob with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in recognition of their leadership and dedication to St. Norbert and the greater Green Bay community.
