Long Distance Impact
Military Support
The Green Bay Packers recognize the impact sports can make on individuals away from home who are serving their country. The Packers have made a commitment to respond to the hundreds of letters and emails received from deployed soldiers and their families by sending countless military care packages and messages of support. Many requests ask for the team's help to provide a distraction from the rigors of military life, while others request special recognition of a soldier at a turning point in their military career.

Several players had the honor of spending Super Bowl weekend with sailors aboard the USS Harry S. Truman, an aircraft carrier in the mid-Atlantic. On a trip arranged by assistant equipment manager Tom Bakken through the U.S. Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation department, players Todd Bouman, Noah Herron, Ingle Martin and Dave Rayner met with the ship's officers, department heads and crew, toured virtually every area of the expansive carrier and learned as much about life at sea as they could. Above all, the players were given the opportunity to thank the sailors for their dedication and service to the country. - Story | Photos

Additionally, in February Packer players Noah Herron, Dave Rayner, Josh Bourke, Patrick Dendy and Kevin Barry spent nearly a week with the troops at Fort Wainwright, a U.S. Army base in Fairbanks, Alaska. The excursion, which also included the New York Jets' D'Brickashaw Ferguson and the Houston Texans' Ben Steele, a former Packer, was arranged by Pastor Joe Urcavich from the Green Bay Community Church in Howard. - Story | Photos
