Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Adam Timmerman was the recipient of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce's Community Service Award.

Timmerman received the award at the annual Welcome Back luncheon, held on Wednesday, August 26. Sponsored by Event USA and the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, the luncheon was attended by over 1,100 people who welcomed the Packers back to Green Bay.

In presenting Adam with his award, here is what the Chamber of Commerce had to say about him...

Adam is very active in the Green Bay community.

He makes regular appearances at local schools and church functions. Adam is frequent visitor to Tank School in Green Bay where he participates in an evening reading program with parents and children. The focus is to get children to read more and parents to become more involved in reading with their children. He was invited to speak to middle school and high school students at a Keshena Tribal School on the importance of staying in school and motivating kids to stay on the right track. Adam speaks frequently on behalf of the DARE program at schools.

Adam and his wife, Jana, were the honorary chairpersons for the March of Dimes in 1997 and 1998 and once again for the 1999 campaign which included appearances for March of Dimes Golf Tournament, Chef's Auction and a pep rally to prepare for "Walk America".

He and Jana are also spokespersons for Safe Kids, a promotion for use of bike helmets, toy safety, and car seat and safety belts. They are also very involved with Northeast Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Green Bay, where he is the master of ceremonies of their auction and assists with fund raising efforts.

He has given his time to the Green Bay Packers Women's Association's, the Green and Gold Gala, and the Service League of Green Bay.
