Campbell Soup Company Teams Up With The Green Bay Packers To Tackle Hunger
posted 9/17/98
Campbell Soup Company announced that it has joined together with the Green Bay Packers and the NFL to help tackle hunger. As part of its NFL sponsorship, the Company has launched the "Campbell's Chunky NFL Tackle Your Hunger II" Program - a charitable program that links the on-the-field performance of all 30 NFL teams to soup donations.
Throughout the season, Campbell will donate 3,000 cans of soup to food banks across the country for every touchdown scored by each of the NFL teams. The soup giant has set a goal of three million cans to be donated to food banks across the country, representing a goal of 100,000 cans for each team.
During the 1997 season, the Green Bay Packers scored 50 touchdowns. In "Tackle Your Hunger" terms, that would mean 150,000 cans of donated soup. Donations will be distributed to food banks nationwide.
"Campbell is delighted to have the Packers on our team to help tackle hunger," said Mark Leckie, President, U.S. Grocery Division of Campbell Soup Company. "We wish them the best of luck this season and look forward to donating soup throughout the country on their behalf."
Campbell Soup Company worked with Packers star Reggie White on the successful "Tackle Your Hunger" program last year. More than 1.5 million cans of soup were donated to food banks throughout the country based on Reggie's efforts - as Campbell donated 50,000 cans for every sack and 20,000 cans for every tackle.
