Packer Fans To Participate In Biggest "Trade" In NFL History
posted 10/21/98
The biggest "trade" in NFL history will take place the week of October 18-24 -- and for a good cause.
In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the NFL's partnership with United Way, fans who donate their old NFL apparel will receive a discount of up to 25 percent off new NFL apparel at participation stores in NFL cities. The old apparel items will be donated to United Way local charities.
In Green Bay, JC Penny will offer consumers the opportunity to trade-in their "gently used" NFL apparel for a 10-25% discount on new NFL apparel.
On Tuesday, October 27th, United Way of Brown County and representatives of the Green Bay Packers will collect the donated items and distribute them to the Salvation Army and New Community Shelter.
Nationwide, fans may drop off their old apparel and receive a discount at more than 2,000 participating locations in NFL cities of the following retailers: Ames, Boscov's, Foley's, FootAction USA, Hecht's, JC Penny, and Kaufmann's.
The "Trade-In" program is one element of the silver anniversary NFL-United Way celebration. Local United Ways and NFL clubs are teaming this season on a variety of projects designed to help communities and raise awareness of the NFL-United Way story.
Throughout the NFL's 25-year relationship with the United Way, more than 950 TV spots featuring hundreds of NFL players, coaches and owners, have promoted community services funded by the United Way. The NFL has provided hundreds of millions of dollars of free television time for the ongoing campaign.
