  • Led by the slugging of kickers Josh Bidwell and Ryan Longwell, the Packers' defensive squad defeated the offensive team, 15-11, today at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.

In front of a capacity crowd of 6,279, each kicker belted three home runs to build to an early lead for the offense. But in the fourth inning the offensive line led the comeback for team captain Brett Favre's squad.

In the bottom of the fourth, Ross Verba and Mike Wahle connected on back-to-back homeruns to tie the score at seven.

One out later, the offense continued their assault with back-to-back-to-back homers. Bill Schroeder, Matt Hasselbeck and Favre each went deep to make the score 10-7.

In the top of the sixth, Longwell and Bidwell connected on the third homer of the day for each to surge the defensive team ahead, 13-10.

Later in the inning, defensive tackle Billy Lyon hit the eighth homerun of the day for the defense, scoring two runs and completing the scoring for his team.

The offense managed one run in the bottom of the seventh, before Bidwell robbed Wahle of his second homer, at the fence and Joe Andruzzi popped out to Longwell, to end the game.

Elvis Presley, representing 103.1 FM, made a lasting impression on the crowd when he decided to rush pitcher Bill Schroeder for a pitch that The King perceived as too close for comfort. Schroeder promptly and playfully dropped Elvis to the ground, grabbing his black-haired wig and waving it at the crowd.

In addition to having bragging rights as the best softball players at 1265 Lombardi Avenue, the defense was also invited to throw whipped-cream pies at the offensive player of their choice. LeRoy Butler wasted no time in choosing Favre for his victim, as the Packers' signal-caller was nailed square in the face, while speaking to a friend.

Between the sixth and seventh innings, Favre, addressed the crowd and thanked them for their support of the Brett Favre Forward Foundation. All proceeds from today's game went to fund the foundation which works to provide aid to disabled and disadvantaged youth in the state of Wisconsin.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their support today," Favre said. "I hope everyone had a lot of fun and this is something we plan on doing every year. Thank you again."
