| Donning festive holiday costumes, 150 young dancers entertain the Lambeau crowd on Dec. 24 |
The Packers Women's Association sponsored a new event for area youth in 2000. Under the direction of Rhodesia Butler, Alana Morton, and student director Natalie Schuldes, 150 dancers performed a special Christmas Eve - Battle of the Bays halftime show during the Packers final season game on December 24, 2000.
Auditions for the halftime dance performance were held during September and were followed by weekly practices until the Christmas Eve performance. Dance students from five Green Bay area dance studios and high school pom pom squad members were selected to perform the halftime show.
The dancers (boys and girls ages 8 to 18) performed to the music of Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town", and the Quad City DJ's "What Ya Gonna Get For Christmas." The last song they performed to was a song written specifically for the half-time show entitled "Bring It On" also by the Quad City DJ's.
Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and their elves made an appearance on the field during the performance. The elves then threw commemorative Christmas Eve - Battle of the Bays T-shirts into the crowd.
The halftime performers did an excellent job and spread holiday cheer to all of the fans at the game.
