LAMBEAU RENOVATION

posted 05/19/01
Lambeau Construction

LAMBEAU AT THE BEGINNING

This was the scene in 1957 as the construction crew began putting together what was to become Lambeau Field and pro football's most storied shrine. Initially named City Stadium, it was erected for a modest $960,000 and appropriately dedicated on September 29, 1957 with a 21-17 victory over the Chicago Bears before a capacity crowd of 32,132. Thanks to the combined efforts of Brown County taxpayers, stock holders, season ticket holders, the NFL and Packers fans all throughout the country, Lambeau Field will be redeveloped between 2001 and 2003. Included in this historic renovation will be a five-story atrium called Titletown. Titletown will become a destination site for fans and tourists to experience the Packers 365 days a year.
