Gilbert Brown tips the soup scale at 403 cans

With the return of Gilbert Brown back to the Packers in such great shape, the one lingering question remains: how much does the veteran weigh? While Brown has kept quiet on the situation throughout the preseason, the fans and media who showed up at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday in the Lambeau Field parking lot know that Brown logs in at 403 cans. That's right, 403 Campbell's Chunky Soup cans.

As part of the nationwide Tackling Hunger 2001 program, linemen throughout the NFL will be "weighed-in" on a 12-foot soupspoon scale during training camps. Campbell is donating over 10 times each participating player's weight in Chunky Soup to a local food bank of the team's choice.

Paul's Pantry, a local food bank located on Green Bay's east side, received a donation of over 6,000 cans thanks to the Gravedigger's healthy frame.

Working together to Tackle Hunger across the country since 1997, Campbell's and the NFL have generated a four-season donation of more than 19 million pounds of food. Last season alone, the Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger 2000 program donated over 5 million cans of soup to food banks.

Aside from Brown, over nineteen other players volunteered to be weighed for the drive this year. In addition to the pre-season lineman weigh-ins, Campbell will continue to make food donations to local food banks throughout the NFL season. As part of the Tackling Hunger 2001 campaign, Campbell will be helping many NFL teams kick-off their regular season and holiday food drives. Campbell will also donate 2,000 cans of soup for each touchdown scored by all 31 NFL teams this season. Information courtesy of Campbell Soup Company
