| Mark Tauscher reads to students at Howe Elementary |
Mark Tauscher on Tuesday visited with students at Howe Elementary School in Green Bay to present the school with a special honor. Tauscher, on behalf of the Green Bay Packers and Coca-Cola Bottling, presented Howe with a 200-book classroom library from Scholastic Publishing.
The goal of the program is to encourage reading and education by providing students with books. Tauscher sat down and read two books to the first- and fourth- grade students. He read the True Story of the Three Little Pigs and Verdi while showing the pictures in each book to his captivated audience.
After reading the stories, Tauscher had a question and answer session with the students. He emphasized the importance of working hard in school for a good education. Tauscher also told the story of his reading problems in elementary school. When he was in the first grade Tauscher was at the bottom reading level at his school. Determined to be successful he improved his reading level so much that by the third grade he was one of the best readers in his class.
