PACKERS TOP SHOW IN MILWAUKEE

posted 12/20/01

G Wisconsin football fans love their Packers and the proof is in the latest television ratings for the Milwaukee viewing area. Every week Green Bay has played this season, the game broadcast has been the highest rated show of the week in Milwaukee.

This figure includes not just the programming also available for viewing on Sunday afternoons, but the rest of the week, including prime time. That means each Packers broadcast has been watched by more viewers than Friends, ER, Survivor, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and every World Series game.

The most watched game this season?

Last week's broadcast of Green Bay playing at Tennessee drew a 48.3 rating and a 71 share. That means 48.3 percent of all the television households in Milwaukee had their television turned onto the game. The 71 percent share refers to the fact that out of all the televisions on during that game, 71 percent of them were tuned into the Packers game.

The first Bears-Packers game drew a 43.7 rating and a 74 percent share. Essentially, three out of every four households with their television sets that week watched Green Bay pull out the 20-12 victory.

The second Bears-Packers game drew a 44.8 rating and a 72 share. The Monday Night Football broadcast of the Green Bay versus Washington drew a 44.6 rating and a 62 percent share.

"Packer fans are the most loyal in the NFL," Coordinator of Broadcast Planning for the NFL, Maria Angelidas said, "with a remarkable 67 percent in the Milwaukee area tuned in to see the Packers play each week."

Aside from the Packers games, the most watched television show since the beginning of the NFL season has been an episode of NBC's ER on October 18th. That show earned a 27.2 rating, with a 38 share, in the Milwaukee viewing market.

Through the first thirteen weeks of the season, the Packers broadcasts averaged a 40.3 rating and 67 share, making Green Bay the NFL team with the highest local market share.
