Rare Bricks from Birthplace Home of
Curly Lambeau Will Make the Perfect Holiday Gift

Get this special holiday gift by donating to Nicolet Elementary School

Packers fans have a unique opportunity this holiday season to purchase original bricks from the Birthplace home of Packers founder, player and coach, Earl "Curly" Lambeau. After the discovery of his home last spring, a group of local investors started to renovate the exterior of the house at 615 North Irwin Street in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Part of the renovation included replacing 104 bricks that were starting to wear.

"Owning a piece of Packers' and Curly Lambeau's history is rare," stated Rudy Hanamann, investor in the Birthplace of Curly Lambeau. "We are excited to be able to save some of the bricks from this legendary home. These bricks would make the perfect gift for Packers fans young and old. The best part of this gift idea is that proceeds from this sale will go toward helping out the Elementary School across the street from Curly's birthplace home."

Donald Driver Named Ameriquest Mortgage Neighborhood MVP Of The Week

Donald Driver of the Green Bay Packers has been named this week's Ameriquest Mortgage Neighborhood MVP, it was announced Wednesday.

Driver is being honored for his dedication in helping single homeless mothers. Helping these women is especially important, because for a time during his early teen years, Driver and his family were homeless. Through the Donald Driver Foundation, Donald and his wife, Betina, devote much of their time helping homeless mothers get back on their feet and buy a home. Though Driver acknowledges that these are big challenges to tackle, he believes he and others in the community can do it one family at a time. With Driver's personal money, private donations and sponsorships, the foundation gave a home to a family in his hometown of Houston and one in Green Bay this year.

Helping provide a better life to children is just as important to Driver. In addition to his work with homeless mothers, he has also paid for hospital bills of sick childre..
Barry, Lee Team With United Way For 6th Annual Hometown Huddle Event

As part of the 6th annual 'Hometown Huddle' event, Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Kevin Barry and defensive tackle James Lee teamed up with United Way Tuesday for a meal and quilt making activity with the winners of a school-wide essay contest from the Fort Howard/Jefferson Neighborhood Resource Center.

The Packers also presented the Center with a new PhoneMaster automated phone system, which includes hardware and a bilingual software program, to help the center with its efforts in assisting families.

During the event, several of the kids read their essays to the players and shared their ideas about why it's important to help your neighbors.

Barry also spoke to the kids about the importance of teamwork.

"Everybody has to play as one, work together and enjoy themselves," he said. "The things that you are doing, helping out with neighbors...that's going to help prepare you for later in life and for what you're going to do.

'Project LEAP' Returns To Lambeau Field Atrium March 5

The Green Bay Packers will once again host 'Project LEAP!' (Lambeau's Exercise and Activity Playground) on March 5, 2005, in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The event, for children 4-and-older, is free to the public and focuses on getting kids out of the house to enjoy some non-strenuous physical activity. Inflatable units, a mini-golf course and climbing walls are planned.

"In the past few years, child obesity has become more and more of a concern," said Cathy Dworak, manager of community relations for the Packers. "We felt it was important to have an event that provided more physical opportunities as opposed to just entertainment."

'Project LEAP!' is one of four annual free community events the Green Bay Packers host in the Lambeau Field Atrium each year.

"The thing that I love about this event is that the families are having a great time together," said Bob Harlan, the Packers' president and CEO. "I think 'Project LEAP!' sends a good message for eve..

The foundation supports various projects of scholarship and wellbeing.

A major component of fundraising for the foundation is the 'Race for Pat,' a pledge event that began earlier this year and concludes April 16, 2005, with a 4.2-mile race (Tillman wore No. 42 in college) in Tempe, Ariz.
Packers Take Part In National Young Readers Week

As part of National Young Readers Week, several Packers players took to the community Tuesday to read books to school children in Green Bay and the surrounding areas.

Linebacker Torrance Marshall read to the entire school at Winchester Elementary in Larsen, Wis., while running back Tony Fisher read to third graders at Denmark Elementary.

Offensive tackle Mark Tauscher, who himself holds a master's degree in educational administration and hopes to one day teach middle school history, read to children at Green Bay's Eisenhower Elementary School.

"It's just a great feeling to be able to give back," Fisher said. "I can remember growing up in Cleveland and being a Browns fan, but I never had any of the players come to my school. Just to be able to see these kids' faces light up as soon as we walk in the room really makes my day.

Chatman, Davenport Play Bingo With Residents of Good Shepherd

"I-29, B-38, N-17."

If you didn't know better, it may have sounded like Najeh Davenport had taken over the play calling duties for long-time Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

"Bingo!"

But rest easy Packers fans, Davenport had only assumed the role of calling out the numbers Tuesday as he and wide receiver Antonio Chatman visited residents for a night of Packers Bingo at Good Shepherd Services nursing home in Seymour, Wis.

The appearance was arranged as part of GSS's 'My Heart's Desire' program, which was created by staff members wanting to create moments of joy for the residents.

"Our whole focus at Good Shepherd is on improving the quality of life for those we serve and certainly creating moments of joy is a big part of that," said Sarah Kneisler, senior director of Good Shepherd Services.

Two residents made it known that they had always wanted to meet a Green Bay Packer football player.

Ron Grovesteen, head coach of the Evansville Blue Devils, has been selected as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5th, the Packers announced Friday.

The Blue Devils beat Prairie du Chien, 25-8, in the second round of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs. Evansville finished the regular season as the Rock Valley Conference champions with an 8-1 record (7-0 conference). On Saturday, they play at Broadhead/Juda.

"This is a great honor for our community, school, football team and my family," said Grovesteen. "I'm very proud to receive this award on behalf of our team. It's a great tribute to our efforts this year as a football team."

Grovesteen has six assistant coaches, Randy Keister, Gary Feldt, Andy Lehman, Jeff Deininger, Jeff Updike and Dale Schultz, on staff for his program of 80 players, 36 of them on the varsity team.
Denmark's Rick Diny Named Packers H.S. Coach Of The Week

Rick Diny, head coach of the Denmark Vikings, has been selected as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27, the Packers announced Tuesday.

The Vikings blanked Winnebago Lutheran, 42-0, in the first round of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs. Diny's squad finished the regular season 6-3 (4-3 Packerland Conference). The Vikings compiled a record of 2-7 in 2003. Diny's selection of Coach of the Week keeps alive the tradition of one Brown County school receiving the award since the award went statewide in 1999.

"It's an honor to win this award," said Diny. "We have been playing really well as a team defensively. We've been shutting teams down, only giving up 110 yards rushing and 10 points a game. Offensively we've been averaging 280 yards a game. It's been a real joy to coach the kids."

Football 101: NFL Workshop for Women Returns November 9 To Lambeau Field Atrium, Hutson Center

Husbands, boyfriends, friends, fathers, sons and daughters, are you looking for a unique experience for the female football fan in your life?

The Green Bay Packers have something of interest for you.

The Packers on Nov. 9 will host 'Football 101, an NFL Workshop for Women,' an interactive and entertaining evening geared for women to learn the basics of football.

While many football observers know the Green Bay Packers boast a fan base that is among the largest and most supportive in all of professional sports, many do not realize that almost half of the Packers Nation are women.

'Football 101' recognizes that fact. Sponsored by <A href="http://www.usingers.com/"target="new">Usingers Famous Sausage and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, this year's event will take place in the Lambeau Field Atrium and in the Don Hutson Center. Cost for the evening is $50.

Verizon Wireless Hopeline Program Collects Record Number Of Phones

Working in concert with the Green Bay Packers, Verizon Wireless collected over 410 used wireless phones from fans at the October 11 Monday night game against the Tennessee Titans.

The phones were collected as part of Verizon's Hopeline program, which is the company's program to promote domestic violence awareness and prevention.

The 2004 collection was the third year in which Verizon has taken up a collection at Lambeau Field, and according to Carolyn Schaumberger of Verizon Wireless, last week's was the largest tally to date.

Other initiatives run by the Hopeline program include public service announcements, such as the one featuring Packers offensive lineman Marco Rivera and his wife, Michelle, which is shown on the Lambeau Field scoreboard at each home game.

The key to the program, though, is the phone recycling initiative, according to Schaumberger.

The Packers Women's Association will hold its 18th Annual Food Drive for Paul's Pantry prior to next Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field.
Wabeno-Laona's Ron Swanson Named Packers H.S. Coach Of The Week

Ron Swanson, head coach of the Wabeno-Laona Rebels, has been selected as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week for Week 6, the Packers announced Friday.

The Rebels beat Crandon, 29-7, in Week 6 to remain perfect on the season, with a record of 6-0 (4-0 Northern Lakes Conference). In the past three seasons, Swanson's teams have lost only one conference game.

"We're very honored to receive this award," said Swanson. "From a coaching standpoint any award that any coach receives is a result of the assistants, the team, all of the individuals that go into the overall picture. Even though I'm the one receiving the award, it's still a whole team effort and I can't say how proud I am of our team and our program."

Wabeno-Laona is a co-op, combining the Wabeno Logrollers and the Laona Fighting Kellys. The football team goes by the nickname of the Rebels. Swanson has three assistant coaches, Pat Lowery, Dan Lazzeroni and Tom Enders, on staff for his prog..

Packers Share Guidance With Young Cadets At Fort McCoy

In today's society, people see success, money and fame among NFL players, but what often is forgotten is the hard work and struggles the players had to go through along the way. Two Packers spent their off day Tuesday explaining to students the level of commitment and dedication it takes in order to achieve this kind of success in their lives.

Backup quarterback Doug Pederson and offensive guard Mike Wahle, along with head trainer Pepper Burruss shared their own life experiences with approximately 110 teenagers at the Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy at Fort McCoy, Wis.

The Challenge Academy offers cadets -- mainly high school dropouts, or at risk students -- the chance to turn their lives around by developing proper work habits and the discipline to become responsible citizens.
Avoid Green Bay Packers Ticket Scams

Because of the long waiting list to buy Green Bay Packers tickets, desperate fans are often conned by rip-off artists advertising on line and in classified ads.

For example, someone on E-bay is offering his rights to purchase season tickets for $6000 (tickets not included)! He claims that the Packers Ticket office approves of the transaction, but this isn't true. If fact, the guy isn't even a season ticket holder.

In another Internet scam, instant messaging is being used to solicit Packers fans while they are on line in chat rooms. Fans are solicited to purchase Packers season tickets at or below cost and are requested to send payment prior to receiving tickets.

"In addition to these rip-offs," says Janet Jenkins, administrator of Trade and Consumer Protection, "fans are also misled by a number of websites which illegally use the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field names, which are trademarks of the Green Bay Packers.

Future Stars Take To Packers' Nitschke Field

In an effort to strengthen relationships with the younger football community, the Green Bay Packers opened Ray Nitschke Field recently to several little league football teams in the Green Bay area.

On the same field where Brett Favre, Ahman Green, Darren Sharper and Nick Barnett install the plans for each week's upcoming game, many young football players had the chance of a lifetime, playing real games on the Packers' newly restored practice field.

"It's special to come and play where NFL players play," Packers executive vice president/COO John Jones said. "That's something that as a young football player, it brings a little more special meaning to your regular games."

The Packers' practice field, which formerly featured a natural grass surface, is now comprised of FieldTurf, a more durable surface which will allow the team to use the field later in the season when natural grass fields typically are frozen.

Seventh Packers FAN Hall Of Fame Honoree Sought

Please Note: As of November 1, the nomination phase has ended. Please check back with Packers.com on November 19th to vote for this year's Packers FAN Hall of Fame honoree.

The Green Bay Packers, the first professional football team to have its own hall of fame, enhanced that distinction in 1998 by establishing a Packers FAN Hall of Fame.

It was founded, in conjunction with the Packers Hall of Fame, for the purpose of annually honoring a devout and longtime Packers fan.

As has been the case each of the past six years, fans have been asked to nominate themselves for recognition by a selection committee. The late Mel Knoke of Appleton was chosen as the inaugural enshrinee in the FAN Hall of Fame. The 91-year-old Knoke, who died between the time of his election and enshrinement, was honored posthumously at the 1999 Packers Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, held March 6.

Saint Mary's Springs' Bob Hyland Named Packers H.S. Coach Of The Week

Bob Hyland, head coach of the Saint Mary's Springs (Fond du Lac) Ledgers, has been selected as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week for Week 5, the Packers announced Friday.

The Ledgers bested Laconia, 39-13, in Week 5, to notch Hyland his career 300th victory. The victory boosted his coaching record to a lofty 300-80-2, becoming the first Wisconsin high school football coach to reach the 300-win plateau.

"To achieve 300 victories is really a dedication to the players and families we have here at Saint Mary's Springs as well as the dedication of the coaching staff," said Hyland. "Many of them are volunteer coaches and they put a lot of their time into the program, without their help, 300 or any victories would not be possible."

Hyland has eight assistant coaches on staff for his program of 70 players, with 50 of them on the varsity.

Sargento Offers Football-Themed Cheese Carving Contest

Wisconsinites can certainly wear cheese and eat cheese, but can they carve cheese?

You've got to see it to believe it!

Join Sargento as it kicks off its second year as the Official Cheese of Lambeau Field with a Football-Themed Cheese Carving Contest -- 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11, outside the Lambeau Field Atrium prior to kick-off of the Packers/Titans Game.

What better way to combine the Sargento passion for cheese and the support of the Wisconsin community, love of the (football) game and the second-annual Sargento "Official Cheese of Lambeau Field" designation than with a truly Wisconsin-style, football-themed cheese carving event!

Sargento has selected six University of Wisconsin at Green Bay art students to carve football-related sculptures out of 40-pound blocks of Sargento Cheddar Cheese. The carvings will be judged by members of the Packers Women's Association, per judging criteria provided onsite by professional cheese sculpture arti..

Packers Practice, Lambeau Field Atrium Among Training Camp Favorites

Lambeau Field again was a bustling center of activity this summer as tens of thousands of fans descended upon Green Bay to take in all that Packers training camp has to offer.

Making this summer an even busier occasion was the Lambeau Field Atrium operating with all its entities open and accepting visitors. While the Atrium and its eateries were open for training camp in 2003, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Curly's Pub and other areas were not on line until the after the regular season was underway.

That changed during this summer's training camp, as fans had the opportunity to completely fill their day with Packers football.

"The main thing I noticed during two-a-days in the past is that everybody would have to fill their time between practices away from Lambeau Field," said Packers President and CEO Bob Harlan. "This year they came into the Atrium and got a bite to eat in Curly's Pub or one of the other restaurants, went through the Hall of Fame o..

Lambeau Field Stadium Tour Welcomed 100,000th Patron Tuesday

The Lambeau Field Stadium Tour, a popular attraction since its re-introduction last Oct. 20 in redeveloped Lambeau, welcomed its 100,000th patron Tuesday.

Ken Burton, of Mission Viejo, Calif., signed up to take a tour this morning at 9:30 a.m. and became the milestone tour taker in the process.

"I didn't know what to do when they told me I was the 100,000th person," said Burton. "We were excited to get here and go on the tour and then this happens. It's great."

Packers fans since the 1950s, the Ken and his wife, Frances, included their stop to Lambeau Field while they were in the Midwest to visit Frances' sister who lives in Marquette, Mich.

"We've been great fans of the team for so long," said Burton. "We enjoyed Vince Lombardi, Paul Hornung and Ray Nitschke...and now the recent players, too, like Brett Favre. We were excited to finally get the chance to come and see the stadium and then to be surprised with this...our friends won't believe it..

Packers Women's Association Food Drive Slated For Oct. 24

Annually, the Packers Women's Association conducts a food drive at one home Packers game for the less fortunate in the Green Bay area.

This year, the Packers-Cowboys game, October 24, has been selected as the date in which the PWA will again be collecting food outside Lambeau Field to be distributed to Paul's Pantry.

Last year, in conjunction with the Lambeau Field game day collection, PWA held an in-school food drive in which approximately 30 area schools participated.

Between the two food drives (and a $4,000 donation from Younkers' grand opening in Green Bay), a record 76,400 food items and $16,541 was collected and distributed to Paul's Pantry to help feed the hungry in our community.

Training Camp 2004 One To Remember

Another Packers training camp is now officially in the books, and judging from the massive crowds at the large number of activities throughout the month-long camp, the 2004 edition of Packers training camp could only be described as a full success.

"I'd like to say thank you to all of the Packer fans, who made this one of the most exciting training camps in recent memory," Packers' Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer John Jones said.

"I think camp was such a success because of their enthusiasm and excitement, and because it was the first year that Lambeau Field and Lambeau Field Atrium could be fully available to them," Jones continued.

"We saw a lot of families, and a lot of fans of all ages coming and enjoying practices and soaking in the Packers atmosphere, and really bringing the experience to training camp that Bob Harlan and myself and everyone in the organization hoped that first camp in the new stadium would have.

Shorewood-Messmer's Ron Davies Named Packers H.S. Coach Of The Week

Ron Davies, head coach of the Shorewood-Messmer Co-op team, has been selected as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week for Week 1, the Packers announced today.

Shorewood-Messmer did not win a game during it's first season of existence in 2001 as the first private/public school co-op in Wisconsin, and possibly the United States. Messmer dropped it's football program in the 1980's and Shorewood was on the verge of cutting football as well due to the dwindling number of participants.

In 2002, Davies became the head coach of the combined Shorewood-Messmer squad. He and his team started 2004 off strong by guiding his team to a week 1 victory over Milwaukee South, by a score of 42-14. The team features 25 players with three assistant coaches.

"This is just wonderful for both schools involved. The fact that our kids do work so hard, because we are really promoting discipline, these kids cannot miss practice and we work them as hard as any other..

In 2003, the inaugural 'Spooktacular Fun' event offered people in the community an opportunity to bring their children to the Lambeau Field Atrium to enjoy Halloween 'Lambeau' style.

Complimentary entertainment featured interactive and entertaining activities on the main stage and four side stages, including sing-along music, magic, miming, clowns and jugglers.

Children were also given the opportunity to have their faces painted, and they received a Green Bay Packers reflector to wear on their costumes during trick or treating.

The Lambeau Field Atrium has given the Green Bay Packers a unique venue to periodically host events throughout the year that are open to the community to enjoy and participate in at no cost.

'Spooktacular Fun' will return to Lambeau Field Atrium, October 16, 2004. Fans are invited to join the fun from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption, Packers Team Up To Kick Off 2004

Monday night's preseason opener against Seattle will mark the kickoff of the Packers' 84th season in the National Football League. The game will also be the 44th annual Bishop's Charities Game, a charitable venture begun by Vince Lombardi in 1961.

In 2003, the game took on a successful and rewarding relationship with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption as they joined the Bishop's Charities in presenting the contest.

Launched in 1992, the Foundation is a non-profit public charity dedicated to increasing the adoptions of the more than 150,000 children in North America's public foster care system.
The Green Bay Packers, CBS-5 WFRV, and the Green Bay Area Public School District have teamed up to fight childhood obesity.

The National Institutes of Health reports that one in five children is overweight -- a number that has doubled in the last two to three decades. This epidemic can be attributed in part to increased consumption of processed and fast food and lack of physical activity by our nation's youth.

For the past seven years, fans attending Packers training camp have been able to visit Brown County Arena or ShopKo Hall for the club's interactive area known as The Packers Experience.

The 2004 incarnation of The Packers Experience will allow Packer fans of all ages to hone their football skills in the same building where their heroes play. The event is being held in the concourse area at Lambeau Field, adjacent to the Lambeau Field Atrium. Another feature of the 2004 Experience is that all the activities are FREE to the public for the first time and will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, now through Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Modeled on The NFL Experience, which is a prominent attraction at the Super Bowl each year, The Packers Experience allows young Packers to work on nearly every aspect of their game.
Packers Deliver Team Report At Annual Stockholders' Meeting

The Green Bay Packers don't have an owner. They have 111,613 of them.

As one of the most unique stories in all of sports, Green Bay Packers, Inc., has been a publicly-owned, non-profit corporation since Aug. 18, 1923, when original articles of incorporation were filed with Wisconsin's secretary of state.

On several occasions, loyal fans -- none of whom receive any dividends on the initial investment -- have come to the team's financial rescue, first in 1923, and again in 1935, 1950 and 1997.

On Wednesday, the Packers, governed by a board of directors and a seven-member executive committee, addressed nearly 3,000 stockholders inside the Resch Center in Green Bay, outlining the team's status both on and off the field.

In addition to the annual state of the team address delivered by GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman, vice president of player finance Andrew Brandt gav..

'Summer Traditions At Lambeau Field' Slated For July 31

Summer is in full swing and the redeveloped Lambeau Field is set to celebrate the Green Bay Packers tradition of family and Training Camp by hosting its fourth community event, 'Summer Traditions at Lambeau Field,' on Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

'Summer Traditions' is an event free of charge geared toward families with a setting from the year 1908, when Curly Lambeau was 10 years old. The event will feature exciting activities that children experienced at the turn of the century. 'Summer Traditions' will take place outside in the northeast (Lombardi Ave. and Oneida St.) corner of the Lambeau Field parking lot.

"We're excited to host a fourth community event," said Packers Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer John Jones. "Area families thoroughly enjoyed 'Spooktacular Fun' and 'Project LEAP.' 'Summer Traditions' will be a fine addition in the same spirit and a great way for our fans to get ready for the start of Training Camp."

Packers Help Celebrate Kids' Day

In what is quickly becoming a Green Bay tradition, several Packers players Friday gathered with children at Tank Park to celebrate the second annual Kids' Day -- an event Mayor Jim Schmitt implemented last year.

The celebration was originally started within Schmitt's own family, as every June 25 -- exactly six months from Christmas Day -- was a day devoted to family activities.

In just its second year, hundreds of children gathered in the park for lots of food, fun and a message from the mayor himself, plus Packers linebacker Nick Barnett, cornerback Joey Thomas and tackles Joe Hayes and Jason Hilliard were on hand to sign autographs and hang out with the kids.

Residents of Green Bay, ages 17 or younger, were also invited to join Mayor Schmitt for free activities including swimming at city pools, rides at Bay Beach Amusement Park, activities at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, lunch with the mayor at Tank Park and library story time and skits at Washington Com..

Green Bay Packers training camp has traditionally been an event to experience, but now fans can take in action beyond the field during their visit to training camp. From July 28 - Aug. 31, visitors will enjoy a five-week event that integrates daily themed activities, on-site interactive games, sponsored giveaways and community events.

Visitors can still experience the traditional features of training camp, including the Packers Experience, players riding children's bikes from Lambeau Field to Clarke Hinkle Field, acquiring autographs of players and coaches and getting a sneak preview of the upcoming season.

"We're excited for training camp as we introduce another aspect of the Lambeau Field experience," said Packers Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Jones. "With all the new activities planned and having the Lambeau Field Atrium entirely operational for camp for the first time since the redevelop..

With summer well underway, the Green Bay Packers have officially kicked off their annual Youth Football Camps for 2004.

The second of five summer camps is currently underway in Racine, Wis., with three more to follow in Madison (June 28-July 2), Waukesha (July 12-July 16) and Green Bay (July 19-July 23).

A truly unique experience for children ages 6 to 14, Green Bay Packers Youth Camps offer children the opportunity to learn valuable football skills from experts in the game, including Green Bay Packers alumni.

The weeklong camp allows children to learn the many different positions in football through non-contact instruction, as well as the importance of sportsmanship, self-esteem and fitness.

In addition, two lucky children from each camp will be chosen as the "Packers Camp Leadership Award Winner," an honor that includes a free ticket to a Green Bay Packers preseason home game as well as recognition in front of 70,000 Packers fans.

Power Pack Members Get A Taste of the NFL

On Saturday, June 12, over 600 members of the Junior Power Pack Kids Club attended the Junior Power Pack experience at the Don Hutson Center. The inclement weather outside forced the clinic inside at the Packers indoor practice facility. This provided the kids a chance to play in one of the most modern practice facilities in all of professional sports.

The afternoon camp was an exclusive event for Junior Power Pack members. Parents were seated with cameras in hand along the sidelines. Members spent the afternoon running routes, hitting the tackling dummy, doing various agility drills and lining up in the 3-point stance.

Six Packers players, including Paris Lenon, James Lee and Grey Ruegamer, were on hand to guide participants though the different drills. The players provided full speed demonstrations and then instructed the children on the proper techniques for each drill and position.
Inaugural 'Jerry Parins Cruise For Cancer' A Huge Success

Hundreds of bikers and several Packers players and staff members took to the pavement for the inaugural 'Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer,' Saturday.

A motorcycle ride to benefit cancer patients and families throughout Northeastern Wisconsin, the turnout for the event left Parins, the Green Bay Packers' director of corporate security who himself is currently battling cancer, virtually speechless.

"I really don't have the words to express what I'm feeling right now," Parins said. "Overwhelmed is probably the only word that comes to mind."

Sponsored by the Green Bay Packers, Vandervest Harley-Davidson and Vandervest Custom Cycles, the ride took motorcyclists on scenic Northeastern Wisconsin roads to Vandervest Harley-Davidson in Peshtigo, Wis. There, riders were able to enjoy food, beverages, live music and a 50/50 raffle before returning to Lambeau Field for more food, beverages and live music, in addition to a live auction.

Favre Softball Draws Record Crowd

A record 8,012 fans packed Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton Sunday as the Packers offense topped the defense, 26-25, in the Fifth Annual Brett Favre Celebrity Softball Game.

With all proceeds benefiting the Brett Favre Forward Foundation, the event raised nearly $100,000, all of which will be distributed to charities throughout Wisconsin.

"Today we had a record crowd and it seems like each year it gets bigger and better," Favre said. "Hopefully the fans enjoyed it because that's what it's all about. It's a lot of fun for us and the competitive sides of these guys come out, but everyone had a blast."

The scoring frenzy began early in the first inning when Ahman Green and Favre hit back-to-back home runs, followed by homers from Doug Pederson and Javon Walker to give the offense the 5-3 lead.

Mark Tauscher capped off a four-run fifth inning with a towering two-run home run to right field to extend the offense's lead to 18-11.

Packers Aid Local Homeowner Through 'Rebuilding Together'

For most of the year, the work day for Green Bay Packers employees starts and ends at Lambeau Field.

But not so last week for approximately two dozen individuals with ties to the organization, who got out into the community to participate in the annual event known as Rebuilding Together.

Picking up power tools and paint brushes, the Packers employees did their best to spruce up the house of a local homeowner in need.

"She was thrilled," said Sherry Schuldes, Packers manager of family programs, of the 95-year-old homeowner whose house was at the receiving end of the makeover. "She was just so excited and appreciative about the little things that we were able to do for her."

The 'little things' included the installation of new windows throughout the home, a new door and two new air conditioners as well as the application of a fresh coat of exterior paint.

Honoring America, New Flags Fly Above Lambeau Field

In keeping with the arrival of Memorial Day, two new American flags now fly above Lambeau Field.

The impressively sized flags, 15 feet by 25 feet, were raised Friday at 1 p.m.

Located on top of the stadium's indoor club seats on the north end of the facility, the new flags are the culmination of the desire to improve Lambeau Field's honoring of America, an effort first discussed last fall.

"Once the Lambeau Field redevelopment project was complete and we had our first games in the stadium last fall, we realized the old flag and flagpole appeared a bit small compared to the larger size of the new facility," said Packers President and CEO Bob Harlan. "We needed something more prominent to appropriately honor our country and decided to upgrade that component of the stadium. We also heard from a few fans that they had trouble locating the flag during the anthem, so this will definitely help in that area, too.
Birthplace Of Curly Lambeau Found

For all these years, the birthplace home of Green Bay Packers legend, Earl Louis "Curly" Lambeau, was unknown. But now, thanks to some history detective work, it's been identified by a father and son team who are avid Packers fans.

Not only have Ken and John Calewarts uncovered a piece of Packers history, they also discovered a piece of Green Bay history. The house, located at 615 North Irwin Street in Green Bay, was built in 1868, making it one of the oldest standing homes in Green Bay.

The journey of discovery began in the summer of 2003. After reading a book about Lambeau, Green Bay native Ken Calewarts and his 17 year old son, John, were curious about Lambeau's early childhood home because it was reportedly near Ken's office.

But when they went to the Brown County Register of Deed's office to learn more about the address - 1205 Cherry Street, they found the Lambeau family didn't live there at the time of Curl..

When the season ends for an NFL player, the time off is often welcomed. But after the bones heal and energy is regained, many players find themselves looking for ways to occupy their hours.

Packers offensive tackle Kevin Barry found himself in that exact situation.

When Barry entered his first professional offseason after concluding his rookie campaign with the Packers, he found himself with some free time he wanted to fill. He spoke with Edgar Bennett, the Packers' director of player development and former Green Bay running back, about potential opportunities to work with kids.

"(Bennett) asked about things I had been involved with before," said Barry. "I told him I did track in high school. He told me there was a high school where some of our players helped with lifting and conditioning. I went over there and started helping out."

Barry, coming into his third professional season with the Packers, just finished his second assisting prep athletes a..

Warning: Steps To Avoid Packers Game Tickets Scams

With the posting of the NFL's fall schedule comes a warning from Consumer Protection and the Green Bay Packers: Be careful buying tickets online and from newspaper classifieds!

In addition to problems with Internet auctions, 17 consumers filed complaints saying they didn't get the tickets they paid for from a website allegedly masquerading as the Green Bay Packers.

A number of websites showed a photo of Lambeau field and illegally used the Green Bay Packers name, both of which are trademarks owned by the Green Bay Packers. This has resulted in confusion for many fans that unfortunately believe they are working directly with the Green Bay Packers through these unauthorized sites.

"Consumer Protection is investigating and has gotten ticket purchases refunded in many cases," says Janet Jenkins, administrator of Trade and Consumer Protection, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. "However victims also lost money on hotel and ai..

Governor Honors Packers For 'Putting Wisconsin On The Map'

Wisconsin's most popular football stadium and a new on-line game designed to teach middle-school students about educational travel opportunities were in the spotlight Monday at the Governor's Conference on Tourism.

Sports Illustrated magazine calls Lambeau Field the "eighth best venue in the world to watch sports."

And more than 7,000 middle school students have followed First Lady Jessica Doyle on her travels in "Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle?"

Gov. Jim Doyle recognized the achievements of these two noteworthy projects for the significant attention they have brought the state's travel and hospitality industry.

First Lady Jessica Doyle and the renovated Lambeau Field each received the Governor's Award for 'Putting Wisconsin on the Map' during the Governor's Conference on Tourism at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay.
'Project LEAP!' Lands At Lambeau Field Atrium

Usually reserved for overgrown kids playing football on the frozen tundra, Lambeau Field was transformed into an indoor playground, Sunday -- this time aimed at real kids ages 4-and-older.

Approximately 10,000 fans packed Lambeau Field Atrium for 'Project LEAP!' (Lambeau's Exercise and Activity Playground) -- an event focused on getting kids out of the house to enjoy non-strenuous physical activity.

"In the past few years, child obesity has become more and more of a concern," said Cathy Dworak, manager of community relations for the Packers. "We felt it was important to have an event that provided more physical opportunities as opposed to just entertainment."

Among the activities offered for 'Project LEAP!' were an inflatable obstacle course and slide, a tilting jousting platform and a velcro wall. Other activities included a miniature golf course and a 25-foot tall climbing wall.

Sherman To Kids: 'Everybody Has A Gift'

At first glance, they didn't look all that much like the NFL's only three-time MVP, save for the Green Bay Packers replica jerseys that many of them wore to school that day.

But as Packers GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman addressed students at Lannoye Elementary School in Green Bay, last Friday, he made sure to remind them that they all had something in common with quarterback Brett Favre.

"God gave (Favre) a tremendous gift to throw the football," Sherman said to a roomful of youngsters surrounding him on the gym floor. "But everybody in this room has that gift. You may not know what it is -- maybe it's art, maybe it's dancing, maybe it's academics ... maybe your gift is just that you work really hard -- but everybody has a gift that God gave them that they can use and get as far as they want to go with that gift. Everybody."

Project LEAP! (Lambeau's Exercise and Activity Playground) will take place on the floor of the atrium, with activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free to the public.

Approximately 2,500 people packed the Lambeau Field Atrium as Bellin Health sponsored its fifth annual 'Superbowl of Safety', Saturday.
Packers Fans Again Lead Way In Campbell's Campaign

For the second year in a row, football fans have named the Green Bay Packers their favorite NFL team and contributed to Campbell's Tackling Hunger campaign in the process.

As part of Campbell's Click for Cans promotion, during the 2003 season the helmets of all 32 NFL teams were displayed on Campbell's official website. Visitors were invited to select their favorite team by clicking on a helmet.

Campbell's responded by donating one can of soup for each click to corresponding food banks nationwide.

The Packers generated 673,089 clicks this season, a bit down from their 2002 total of 896,762, but still good enough to lead the pack.

The Kansas City Chiefs were second with 501,120 clicks and the Minnesota Vikings were third at 352,701.

As a result of the project, more than 5 million cans of soup will be donated over the next year to a variety of hunger relief charities across the country.
