USA FOOTBALL COACHING SCHOOL COMING TO PACKERS TRAINING FACILITY IN APRIL

On April 12, 2008 the Packers will host a USA Football Coaching School at the team's practice facility in Green Bay. The Packers are one of 28 NFL teams hosting a USA Football coaching event to further strengthen America's favorite sport.

USA Football, the game's national governing body on a grassroots level, is conducting 40 single-day coaching schools across the country from February through August. The schools' comprehensive curriculum is designed exclusively for youth coaches. Nearly 95 percent of USA Football's coaching schools sold-out in 2007 and more capacity crowds are expected this year.

The event in Green Bay offers 250 youth coaches innovative classroom and on-the-field football instruction from top local high school coaches. Beyond the Xs and Os, attendees learn teaching techniques to ensure that their youngsters have fun playing a game they love while developing their character through football's intrinsic values of teamwork, responsibility and discipline. Included with a gift bag, lunch, and a keynote speaker address, youth coaches are taught best communication practices toward players, parents, and officials, fostering positive experiences for all involved with the sport.

Youth coaches may register to attend the day-long coaching school at the Packers' facility through USAFootballl.com. For more information on the Green Bay coaching school, contact USA Football Regional Manager Scott LeVeque via email (sleveque@usafootball.com) or phone (317-663-4294).

New York Jets Head Coach Eric Mangini is USA Football's coaching program advisor and spokesperson. In addition to coaching schools, USA Football's coaching education program offers:
  • Two levels of online coaching courses at USAFootball.com, implementing audio with 2-D and 3-D animation. In addition to football, the courses include insight on communication with players, parents, and game officials.
  • USAFootball.com coach's guide covering topics from game planning to player health.
  • USAFootball.com practice planner, interactive playbook, and drills library.
  • USAFootball.com "Ask the Expert" question and answer feature. Experts include 30-year NFL coaching veteran Tom Bass and other experienced youth and high school coaches.
  • USA Football's annual coaching membership is $24.99. Members also receive a USA Football Magazine subscription.
"The best way to further strengthen America's No. 1 sport at the youth level is to provide coaches with resources to become quality instructors and mentors," says USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck. "We're doing that in an exciting way, thanks in large part to the Packers and other NFL clubs - all of which care about this game and their communities."
