Well-built with quick feet, good balance and smooth change of direction agility...Has good upper body muscle development and the frame with the potential to add 10-15 pounds with no drop-off in speed...Shows great balance with a burst of quickness...Can leap over blockers and has a good forward lean, using his bulk and strength to press the pocket...Very consistent with his change of direction agility, showing a sense of urgency in his lateral flow...Pursues the plays with good ease-of-movement...Maintains his quickness on the move...Has the instincts needed to consistently find the ball...Plays at a low pad level, showing proper knee bend...Displays the base needed to hold ground firmly...Very fluid in his pursuit...Bends his knees and stays well-balanced flushing out the QB...Shows above average quickness off the edge...Can out-finesse the slower blockers with his outside swim move...Uses his arms well to get a good inside push and has an array of counter moves to the inside, showing quickness in his spin rush move... 2002 SEASON
All-American, All-Big Ten Conference and Super Sleeper Team selection by The NFL Draft Report...Started every game, except vs. Indiana at left defensive tackle...Recorded 38 tackles (22 solos) with four sacks for minus 21 yards and seven stops for losses of 28 yards...Credited with 17 quarterback pressures, six pass deflections and a forced fumble...Led a strong defensive effort upfront as the Buckeyes ranked fourth in the nation in rush defense, allowing only 78.69 yards per game.
Texas Tech...Recorded a sack for a 5-yard loss, pressured the passer twice and made 4 tackles (3 solos).
Kent State...Registered a season-high 7 tackles (4 solos) with a pressure and deflected a pass.
Washington State...His pressure on QB Jason Gesser resulted in an interception by Buckeye middle linebacker Matt Wilhelm...Also had a sack for a 4-yard loss and made 3 solo hits.
Northwestern, Minnesota and Purdue...Had a pressure and 3 tackles in each game.
Wisconsin...Assisted in sacking Brooks Bollinger, causing a fumble that was recovered by safety Michael Doss to set up a scoring drive and posted two pressures.
Penn State...Had 3 pressures, 4 solo tackles, a 10-yard sack and brought down tailback Larry Johnson behind the line of scrimmage on a third-down play.
Illinois...Added an assisted sack, 2 pressures and two pass deflections.
2001 SEASON
Played in every game, starting vs. Purdue and Penn State at strongside defensive end... Finished with 24 tackles (14 solos), three sacks for minus 20 yards and six stops for losses of 26 yards...Registered 12 quarterback pressures...Caused a fumble and batted away a pass.
UCLA...Deflected a pass inside the red zone, sacked QB Cory Paus for a 6-yard loss and posted 3 solo tackles.
Penn State...Made a touchdown-saving tackle by bringing down tailback Larry Johnson for a 3-yard loss (PSU forced to settle for a field goal)...Also had two pressures.
Purdue...Posted 5 tackles (3 solos) with 4 pressures, including one that resulted in an interception by the Buckeyes' Cie Grant...Also had a sack for a 6-yard loss and made two stops behind the line of scrimmage.
Michigan...Caused a fumble after a sack for an 8-yard loss and tipped a pass that was intercepted by safety Michael Doss for a 36-yard return...Also delivered two pressures.
South Carolina (Outback Bowl)...Made 2 pressures and collected a season-high 6 tackles.
2000 SEASON
Played behind Rodney Bailey at strongside defensive end...Was scheduled to compete for the starting job...Recorded 15 tackles (11 solos) with three sacks for 28 yards and seven stops for losses of 34 yards...Also had seven quarterback pressures.
Arizona...Credited with two pressures, 2 solo tackles, a 12-yard sack and 2 stops behind the line of scrimmage.
Penn State...Had 2 solo tackles, a pressure that resulted in an interception and a 6-yard sack.
Minnesota...Totaled 4 tackles (3 solos) and had two stops behind the line of scrimmage for losses of 3 yards.
Iowa...Made 2 tackles with a pressure and a sack for a 10-yard loss.
Michigan...Tackled All-American tailback Anthony Thomas for a 2-yard loss.
South Carolina (Outback Bowl)...Played, but did not record any tackles.
1999 SEASON
Reserve defensive end, seeing action in seven games...Recorded two assisted tackles... Intercepted a pass and returned the ball 31 yards vs. Iowa.
