OVERVIEW
The two-time team captain and member of the squad's Leadership Council was a "coach on the field" for the young Texas A&M offense in 2004. One of the team's finest athletes, Terrence earned 4x4 and Aggie Elite status during the off-season training program and set a school conditioning record with a 41.5-inch vertical leap. Murphy was named Offensive Most Valuable Player in District 15-4A as a quarterback at Chapel Hill High School. He passed for 1,149 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 65 of 158 passes and also rushed for 512 yards and seven touchdowns on 92 carries as a senior. Terrence burst on to the Texas A&M scene, setting a freshman season record with 36 receptions, good for 518 yards (14.4 avg) and three touchdowns in 2001. He played in the final eleven games of the 2002 season, starting three contests. Murphy totaled 599 yards on 36 catches (16.6 avg) and four scores that year. Murphy manned the "Z" receiver slot as a junior while also serving as squad captain. He snatched 44 passes for 762 yards (17.3 avg), but did not have a scoring catch. Terrence did run for a touchdown on ten carries for 150 yards and took over kickoff return chores, totaling 626 yards on 23 attempts (27.2 avg). Caught a career-high 56 passes for 721 yards (12.9 avg) and three touchdowns in 2004. The second-team All-Big Twelve Conference choice also gained 116 yards on seven kickoff returns (16.6 avg) and 31 yards on four carries. Murphy finished his career with 29 starts in 45 games. He caught 172 passes for 2600 yards (15.1 avg) and ten touchdowns. He shattered the previous school career-records of 117 receptions for 1740 yards by Bethel Johnson (1999-2002). Terrence also gained 209 yards on 17 carries (12.3 avg) with a score and returned 31 kickoffs for 761 yards (24.5 avg). Only Carl Roaches (1087, 1972-75), Leeland McElroy (1099, 1993-95) and Rod Harris (1209, 1985-88) had more yards on kickoff returns in a career at Texas A&M.

2004 SEASON
All-Big Twelve Conference first-team selection by the league's coaches, earning second-team honors from the Associated Press...Second-team Academic All-Big Twelve choice... Led the team with a career-high 56 receptions for 721 yards (12.9 avg) and three touchdowns...Only Albert Connell (57 in 1996), Robert Ferguson (58 in 2000), Ken McLean (60 in 1965) and Rod Bernstine (65 in 1986) had more receptions in a season for the Aggies...His 721 yards rank eighth on the school's season-record list...Added 116 yards on seven kickoff returns (16.6 avg), 13 yards on a punt return and 31 yards on four carries (7.8 avg)...All three of his fumbles resulted in turnovers.

Wyoming...Had an 11-yard kickoff return, a 13-yard punt return and three catches for 69 yards.
Kansas State...Added 72 yards on two catches with a 29-yard score and returned a kickoff 32 yards.
Iowa State...Totaled 36 yards on four receptions.
Oklahoma State...Caught five passes for 104 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown and ran for an 8-yard gain.
Colorado...Added 42 yards on two kickoff returns and 34 yards on seven catches.
Baylor...Caught seven passes for 68 yards and had a 19-yard kickoff return.
Oklahoma...Set up two Sooner scoring drives when he was stripped from the ball twice, finishing with 31 yards on three receptions, 14 yards on two carries and 12 yards on a pair of kickoff returns.
Texas Tech...Followed with four grabs for 75 yards.
Texas...Ran for a 9-yard gain and totaled 77 yards on eight catches.
Tennessee (Cotton Bowl)...Closed out his career with 39 yards on five receptions, but turned the ball over after being tackled by safety Jason Allen after a 15-yard catch in the third quarter and Tennessee recovered the ball.

2003 SEASON
All-Big Twelve Conference first-team selection as a kickoff returner...Team MVP and squad captain...Member of the Leadership Council...Moved into the starting lineup at the "Z" receiver position...Caught 44 passes for 762 yards (17.3 avg), but did not have any touchdown grabs...His 762 yards rank fourth on the school's season-record list behind Ken McLean (835 in 1965), Albert Connell (872 in 1996) and Robert Ferguson (885 in 2000)...Rushed ten times for 150 yards (15.0 avg) and a score...Returned 23 kickoffs for 626 yards (27.2 avg), breaking the previous Aggie season-record of 590 yards by Leeland McElroy in 1993...Fumbled four times, with one setting up an opposition scoring drive... His 1538 all-purpose yards were the most ever by a Texas A&M receiver in a season.

2003 GAME ANALYSIS
Arkansas State...Had a 77-yard kickoff return, gaining 135 yards on two attempts and caught two passes for 19 yards.
Utah...Took the ball 80 yards for a touchdown on a reverse...Added 76 yards on four grabs and 85 yards on two kickoff returns.
Pittsburgh...Rushed three times for 40 yards, caught four passes for 61 yards and returned a kickoff 25 yards.
Texas Tech...Had a 32-yard reception and returned four kickoffs for 77 yards.
Oklahoma State...Amassed 38 yards on three carries, 98 yards on six grabs and 21 yards on a kickoff return.
Kansas...Gained 72 yards on three catches and 45 yards on a kickoff return.
Missouri...156 yards on eight receptions and 57 yards on three kickoff returns.
Texas...Closed out the season with seven catches for 150 yards and three kickoff returns for 45 yards.

2002 SEASON
Played in eleven games, starting three contests... Finished with 36 receptions for 599 yards (16.6 avg) and four touchdowns.
