OVERVIEW
Cory is a dynamic return specialist who is also a player than needs to be accounted for by the
defense every time he lines up on the field. Whether it is catching, running or returning the ball,
Rodgers has proven to be one of the more electrifying players in the college game. Despite
playing only three seasons at TCU, he ranks fourth in school history in receptions (150), tied for
first in touchdown catches (17), first in kickoff return yardage (1,747) and second in school annals
in all-purpose yardage (4,798).
Rodgers was a dual threat quarterback at Hightower High School. He twice earned All-District
honors and received All-State recognition as a senior. He was a member of Texas Prep's Top
100 list. Cory was responsible for 62 touchdowns (37 passing and 25 rushing) and over 5,000
yards of offense in his final two campaigns.
He redshirted as a freshman at Texas Christian in 2002, spending the season adjusting to wide
receiver from prep quarterback. He earned All-Conference USA honorable mention in 2003 for
the Horned Frogs. Despite starting only three games, he led the team and ranked fourth in the
conference with 1,490 all-purpose yards. He ranked second on the squad with 37 receptions for
590 yards (15.9 avg) and five touchdowns. He scored three times on 17 carries and returned 32
punts for 352 yards (11.0 avg). He also gained 509 yards on 23 kickoff returns (22.1 avg).
Rodgers garnered third-team All-Conference USA honors as both a returner and receiver in 2004.
He ranked tenth in the nation with an average of 161.55 all-purpose yards per game. He led the
team with a career-high 61 receptions for 836 yards (13.7 avg) and seven touch-downs. He ran
for two more scores, returned 18 punts for 183 yards (10.2 avg) and had 31 kickoff returns for
723 yards (23.3 avg). His total kick return yardage of 906 yards set a school season-record.
Cory received All-American and All-Mountain West Conference honors as a kickoff returner in
2005. He ranked third in the nation with a 30.3-yard average on 17 kickoff returns with two
touchdowns. He ranked eighth in the NCAA Division 1-A ranks with an average of 15.3 yards on
19 punt returns. Rodgers again led the team with 52 catches for 685 yards (13.2 avg) and five
touchdowns from the "X" receiver position. He also rushed 17 times for 41 yards and five scores,
finishing with 1,531 all-purpose yards.
In 36 games with the Horned Frogs, Cory started 24 times. He ranks fourth in school history with
150 receptions for 2,111 yards (14.1 avg) and a team record-tying 17 touch-downs. He carried 46
times for 115 yards (2.5 avg) and ten scores. He returned 69 punts for 825 yards (12.0 avg) and
set a school record with 1,747 yards on 71 kickoff returns (24.6 avg) and a pair of touchdowns.
He accounted for 174 points and 29 scores. On 336 plays, he gained 4,798 all-purpose yards, an
average of 133.28 yards per game.
CAREER NOTES
Ranks fourth in school history with 150 receptions, topped only by Kelly Blackwell (181, 1988-91),
Mike Renfro (162, 1974-77) and Stephen Shipley (152, 1989-1992)...His 2,111 yards receiving
rank behind Renfro (2,739), Shipley (2,251), Stanley Washington (2,209, 1979-82), James
Maness (2,171, 1981-84) and Blackwell (2,155)...His seventeen touchdown catches tied Renfro
for the school all-time record...Added ten touchdowns rushing...Holds the TCU career-record
with 1,747 yards on kickoff returns, breaking the previous mark of 1,513 yards by LaTarence
Dunbar (1999-2002)...His 71 kickoff returns topped the old TCU all-time record of 59 by Toby
Morey (1989-91)...His career average of 24.6 yards per kickoff return rank behind Jim Fauver

825 on punts) shattered the previous school record of 2,101 yards by Lindy Berry (1946-
49)...Gained 4,798 all-purpose yards during his career, surpassed only by LaDainian Tomlinson

2005 SEASON
Received first-team All-American honors as a kickoff returner from ESPN.com and Sports
Illustrated, adding second-team accolades from The NFL Draft Report and the Walter Camp
Foundation...First-team All-Mountain West Conference as a returner and honorable mention at
wide receiver...Led the conference while ranking third nationally with a 30.3-yard average on
seventeen kickoff returns, good for 515 yards...One of only three players in the country to have
two returns for touchdowns this season...His 515 yards rank third on the school's season-record
list behind Allen Hooker (557 in 1975) and Toby Morey (615 in 1990)...Led the MWC in and
ranked eighth in the nation with 19 punt returns for 290 yards (15.3 avg)...Lined up at "X"
receiver, leading the team with 52 receptions for 685 yards (13.2 avg) and five touchdowns,
adding 41 yards and five scores on 17 carries (2.4 avg)...Averaged 14.6 yards every time he

(23.3 avg)...His 723 yards broke the old school season-record of 615 by Toby Morey in
1990...His total kick return yards (both kickoffs and punts) of 906 topped his previous TCU
season-record of 861 in 2003...His 1,777 all-purpose yards rank behind Kenneth Davis (1,811 in

earned third-team All-Conference USA honors as a punt returner and was named to the
Conference USA All-Freshman squad as both a receiver and punt returner...Member of College
Football News' Freshman All-American squad...Led the team and was fourth in the league in allpurpose
yardage, averaging 114.6 yards per game...Second on the team in receiving with 37
catches for 590 yards (15.9 avg) and five touchdowns from the "X" receiver position...Carried 17
times for 39 yards (2.3 avg) and three scores...Returned 32 punts for 352 yards (11.0 avg) and
23 kickoffs for 509 yards (22.1 avg)...His 509 yards rank fourth on the school's season-record list
and his 861 yards in total kick returns (kickoffs, punts) rank second on the Horned Frogs' annual
