Festival of Lights 2009

The Green Bay Packers and Festival Foods are set to host the fourth annual Festival of Lights at Lambeau Field, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The family-themed event, free to the public, will begin at 5 p.m. in the Lambeau Field Atrium, and feature choirs from Green Bay West High School, Kewaunee High School and West De Pere High School performing holiday music, as well as cookie decorating, holiday movies and cartoons, holiday card making, and photo opportunities with Santa Claus.

At 6:30 p.m. the event will move out onto Harlan Plaza for the formal lighting of the holiday tree.

The holiday tree for the event was harvested the morning of November 30 in Bowler, Wis., and erected on Harlan plaza in the afternoon. The decoration of the tree will follow later that week with more than 10,000 lights supplied by Mills Fleet Farm.

The tree was donated by members of the Stuyvenberg family, in memory of their father, Paul, who ran a small family Christmas tree business in Kimberly, Wis., with trees grown on land he purchased in the Bowler area. Paul, who passed away in 2003, was a devoted Packers fan and his family knew he would be proud to have one of his trees on display in front of Lambeau Field for the holiday season.

The family, in recognition of providing the tree for the event, will receive four tickets to the Packers-Seahawks game, Dec. 27.
