Green Bay vs. Chicago - Postgame Quotes - Chicago

Regular Season - Packers Win 38-24

HEAD COACH DAVE WANNSTEDT:
  • "Like I told the players, the effort you have to give each week gives you the chance to win the game.
  • "The turnovers were critical; that was the swing in the game. Our field position was disappointing. The coverage units just didn't get it done.
  • "It could have been ugly (in the first half) the way they were starting their drives."
  • (on Bryan Cox's unsportsmanlike conduct penalties) "He can't do that. He knows that. We can't have an episode like that every week. He was upset with the late substitution (by the Packers) when we were trying to get the right defense on the field."
  • (Questioned why the Bears didn't go for a field goal early in the game, Wannstedt said it was into the wind and 50 yards.)
  • (on the Packers' touchdown right before the half) "That was a big play. That gave them momentum.
  • "In the second half, they started from the 50, and we couldn't get started.
  • "Erik Kramer did a good job, but he can play better. Erik has to play better, and he will play better.
  • "The work of the special teams was disappointing. We were very good at that in the preseason. Our kicking was poor -- it lacked the hang time and our coverage was not there.
  • "We have to play better. We can't give up turnovers. That becomes a no brainer."
QUARTERBACK ERIK KRAMER:
  • "I couldn't have played a worse game.
  • "I didn't see things clearly and got fooled a couple of times -- that's not acceptable.
  • "At some point I was not making the throws I had to make. I just didn't get it done.
  • "Later in the game, we got down, we couldn't rebound. I feel disgusted about it.
  • "We played a good game, but were off target. I want a chance to redeem myself.
  • "I have no excuses, I was ready to play."
LINEBACKER BRYAN COX:
  • "There is no rule against taking your helmet off and throwing it. I have no regrets. They created the turnovers and capitalized on them. We didn't.
  • "They (the Packers) are getting extra help from the team, the crowd and the rule book. If I get fined, I won't be mad about it.
  • "They (the Packers) stretched the rule book on substitutions. They had four receivers in, we couldn't change the defense.
  • "I was wrong, but that came in the heat of the battle. We couldn't get any calls; we got frustrated.
  • "This game is not ballet, it is not basketball -- it is football, a violent game.
  • "We fought hard. They got the turnovers."
