Regular Season - Packers Win 45-17
HEAD COACH BARRY SWITZER:
"We took a good whipping today. We didn't respond.
"The second half was tough; they had the ball a long time.
"We didn't convert the third downs; that hurt us. The Packers gave a great
demonstration of ball control.
"They totally dominated our game. They did everything they could to be a
class football team.
"We knew they were going to run -- we couldn't stop them.
"Their offense made key plays today. Dorsey (Levens) went inside, he went
outside.
"They played a lot of snaps. We got tired. I think we had three snaps in
the third, maybe five snaps in the fourth.
"We know we can run on Green Bay, but we never had the ball.
"The challenge now is how we respond in the next three days (Dallas plays
on Thanksgiving)."
QUARTERBACK TROY AIKMAN:
"They gave us a pretty good whipping in the second half.
"In the third quarter, they made it to 14, we cut it to seven, and by then
it was pretty much over from then on.
"I don't know what more we could have done.
Their pass defense is a good group -- they played well.
"The cold was a factor on some of the dropped balls, but that is not an
excuse -- they had to play in it too.
The guys will come to play ball on Thursday; we have the drive to win the
remaining games.
"I know our players; they have the talent to get it done.
"This game was frustrating. There has been too much of a pattern in this
season's games."
TIGHT END ERIC BJORNSON:
"It will be tough to bounce back in four days, but we have to get ready for
Thanksgiving.
"This game (results) was a little surprising.
"At the half we had them where we wanted them, but then we didn't sustain
any drives.
"We can't blame this on the defense. We had a lot of third-down plays and
didn't convert.
CORNERBACK DEION SANDERS:
"If anyone had told me someone would rush for 100 yards today, I would have
told them they are absolutely absurd.
"I don't know what happened today."
(on Brett Favre) "You don't teach that running around and throwing the
ball. He makes their plays. Our inability to contain Favre was a factor.
"It was too cold to get tired out there when our defense was on the field.
"The Packers are great here at Lambeau Field; they are great away from
Lambeau Field.
"(Dorsey) Levens is a tough runner; he is one of the best runners in the NFL."
(on the Packers' passing) "They get their guys in position to catch the ball."
RUNNING BACK EMMITT SMITH:
"I can't remember a loss like this. They (the Packers) did a great job.
"It's no fun watching from the sidelines when another offense is
steamrolling you.
"They converted the third downs; they made some big plays.
"The weather was not a factor; the field was in great condition.
"This is regular football. We moved the ball; we just did not make the big
plays."
(on his two fumbles) "There were some mechanical problems.
"The Packers are not the best team we faced this season. The 49ers were
good, but the Packers' defense is the best we have faced."
(in reference to Thursday's game) "Now we have to put our positive thinking
into action."
"We just got beat, that's all I can say.
"Now we are out of the fire. Thursday we are going right back into it.
"We have to eliminate the bad. Today, we did not do that."
WIDE RECEIVER MICHAEL IRVIN:
"We had a good chance to win today. At the half, they made the adjustments;
we didn't.
"We got beat bad. We have to look at our numbers.
"If I played Doug Evans one-on-one, I would kill him.
"We're not playing good football. We're helping them with our three-and-out."
(on the dropped passes) "I should have made those. It was cold, but still
I should have made the catches.
"At Green Bay you don't prove anything -- you prove something when you win
at San Diego. If Green Bay wins the Super Bowl, they prove something.
"At the end of the half we felt we were pretty good. We came out the second
half and didn't do it.
"Coming back in January wouldn't bother me one bit."
