Green Bay vs. Buffalo - Post Game Quotes - Buffalo
Regular season - Packers Win 31-21
HEAD COACH MARV LEVY: (on Steve Tasker's ejection early in the game) "It was disheartening.
It was unfortunate. He brushed the official. I
will address the league office about this. I'm biting my tongue right
now about what I want to say."
(Levy acknowledged the ball hit the Bills' Raymond Jackson, but objected
to the call that sent Tasker out of the
game.)
(on the overall play by Buffalo, Levy called it sloppy and
disappointing) "We gave them 10 points on the kicking
game. The punt protection has to work. It was mortifying the way the
kicking team played.
"The penalties hurt, but they (Packers) had some, too. You can't make
those kind of errors against a great football
team.
"Some players can win-win, but then you need the others to do well. We
have a way to go, but we'll get up fast
(for next season.)"
(on a question of retirement, Levy insisted he has no plans to discuss
it.) "Right now I will do all I can to get the
Buffalo Bills back for next season."
WIDE RECEIVER STEVE TASKER: "I want to apologize to my teammates and the fans to let that happen."
Tasker said he was running back to the play area when he inadvertently
brushed the back of an official, which led
to his ejection from the game. He returned to the sidelines and "one
of my teammates told me I had been
ejected, but I didn't know why.
"It was my fault; I had no intention of bumping an official. It probably
was the right call.
"It was sad to leave the game." Tasker already had announced plans to
retire after 13 years with Buffalo.
"I want to apologize to my wife who was watching the game at home. I
also want to apologize to everybody. It
was sad to end the season like that.
"I am proud of this organization, I am proud of my teammates."
QUARTERBACK ALEX VAN PELT: "I'm proud of the guys and the way they fought.
"It was a shame to lose (Steve) Tasker, but he went out fighting.
"I missed a couple of throws on third and fourth downs that should have
been conversions.
(Wide receiver) Quinn Early stepped it up and had a great game. We had
some plays designed for him. He
reached down for something extra with his play today."
Van Pelt acknowledged a change in quarterbacks "changes the cadence;
that often leads to some offsides.
"I like to throw deep at Lambeau Field -- that's a thrill.
"We wanted to go out and play a strong four quarters. We did that -- no
one took the day off.
"We tried to make something happen today.
"I think I did well enough to be around next season."
