Green Bay vs. Buffalo - Post Game Quotes - Green Bay
Regular season - Packers Win 31-21
HEAD COACH MIKE HOLMGREN: "It was a different game, but we knew that coming in. There were a lot
of penalties -- which I didn't like -- the ball
was on the ground, there were a lot of crazy plays. But the players
played very hard and I was looking for that."
(on what was going through his mind when Brett Favre went down) "I was
hoping what happened was that the
wind was knocked out of him. Fortunately, that's what happened. But it
was a little scary for me. Even when I call
safe plays, he can make those safe plays very unsafe."
(on whether Favre should be the MVP) "He should be MVP. I'd vote for
him, clearly."
(on whether this team is as good as last year's team) "I wouldn't say
that -- it's a different team, different season.
They are very comparable, except maybe in the area of our return game."
(on the return game against the Bills) "We placed particular emphasis on
our return game this week and we came
close a few times. We improved over the Carolina game and that's what I
was looking for."
(on trying to get Dorsey Levens the rushing record) "We were trying. I
was pleading with everybody, 'He's got one
more series, let's see if we can get it for him.' Give Buffalo credit,
they played good rush defense. But Dorsey came
out of it healthy, and in the big scheme of things, that's what is most
important."
(on Robert Brooks reaching 1,000 yards receiving for the season) "It's
nice to see Robert get 1,000 yards after
what he's been through."
QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE: (on getting knocked down early) "It kind of knocked the wind out of me.
It scared me more than anything."
(on the Buffalo defense) "Their defense is the best run-stopping defense
we've faced. You can't run through the
middle on them and we found that out. But we made plays when we had to."
(on Robert Brooks reaching 1,000 yards receiving for the season) "It's
nice to see him do that, especially with what
Robert has had to overcome. He's come back better than he was."
(on how he feels about this team compared to last year's team) "I feel
just as good about this team, if not better.
The only unfortunate thing is that we might have to go on the road. But
we feel like we're better on the road this
season. We have to take care of business next week."
(on whether he had more fun this season) "I had just as much fun, if not
more. Once we relaxed and let ourselves
go, we realized, 'Hey, it's not going to be easy, but if we play our
game, we'll be OK.'"
(on whether he thinks about the MVP) "I think about it a lot. Sure, I'd
love to win it -- it's an unbelievable award and
no one has ever won it three times. I'd rather win a Super Bowl, but
both would be nice."
(on the play of the offensive line this season) "It's the best line
we've had since I've been here. Ross (Verba) is not
playing like a rookie and in my opinion Frank (Winters) is the best
center in the league. You just don't hear these
guys' names a lot because they're doing their job."
(on his cross-field "scramble" in the second quarter) "I think I heard
about nine of our guys say, 'Throw it away!' But
I've always told them, don't ever give up because you never know where I
might be coming from. Chewy (Mark
Chmura) looked like he was running in quicksand."
DEFENSIVE BACK DARREN SHARPER: (on his touchdown) "Sometimes it just happens. I got lucky, I was in the
right place at the right time. (The
quarterback) kind of led the receiver, so it wasn't too hard of a catch.
I was able to get it and run it into the end
zone."
WIDE RECEIVER ANTONIO FREEMAN: (on the offense's improvement) "I don't think today's game was any
different from the past three, four weeks. The
key to this offense is timing."
(on Robert Brooks reaching 1,000 yards receiving for the season) "It's
great. I think it's really been tough on
Robert, not really knowing what the final outcome of the surgery would
be. But he has always had an aggressive
approach, and he still does."
TIGHT END TYRONE DAVIS: (on his first touchdown) "I saw the ball come down and their guy was
near it. I didn't know whether he touched it or
not, but you never know so I covered the ball and ran it in."
(on his second touchdown) "It was one of our red zone plays. I think the
defense was a little confused. I knew I
was near the out-of-bounds line, so I tried to drag my feet. That's what
kept me in."
