HEAD COACH MIKE SHANAHAN:
(overall impressions of the game) "The defense played fairly good on first and second downs, but overall we have to improve. I was especially disappointed with our play in the red zone."
(on quarterback Bubby Brister) "I was disappointed in that first play (interception). The player was covered, but they made a big play on the interception. We should learn from that. I don't mind Brister running, but it's not good to take a hit head on. It would have been better to slide. We have to execute on third downs."
Shanahan said he was disappointed with "the penalties and missed assignments. In that first drive, we only got three points.
"I take my hat off to Green Bay; they were ready to play.
"I'm concerned about everything. We have to take a look at certain people; we will be evaluating our personnel and our schemes."
(on a winning attitude) "We've been through this before; we're not as good as we thought.
Their (the Packers) concerntration level was better than ours. They made the third down plays and they kept us out of the end zone.
"Each team did generally what they have been doing in camp."
(on the onside kick) "It was poorly executed -- the kick went too far. His (Elam) adrenalin was too high."
(on Terrell Davis) "We planned to give him five or six carries; he had five, which is about right. He'll get more the next game."
QUARTERBACK BRIAN GRIESE:
"We kept going backwards. When you get inside the red zone, you've got to score.
"Even though this is the preseason, it is no excuse. You have to get ready for the season. It's time for us to take a step forward."
QUARTERBACK BUBBY BRISTER:
"Nobody got hurt -- that's important. As a team, we are going to have to work harder. We have to correct our mistakes.
"We moved the ball, then we shot ourselves in the foot in the red zone."
(on Packers' Matt Hasselbeck) "He played well. He made some big third downs."
(on the team) We've been in camp a long time, we should be playing better. We have to get ready every week."
(on his own goals) "I have to run the offense better, and I will have to make some better decisions."
(on the first interception) "I looked twice, made apoor decision to throw the ball. I can't do that in the future.
"We have a great team; we're going to win a lot."
