Green Bay vs. Miami - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Pre-Season - Packers Win 25-17

HEAD COACH RAY RHODES:

overall impressions of the game: "We won some games this preseason, but I think we still miscued in some areas. When I evaluate this preseason I have to look at the big picture. We had some big plays against us that we have to eliminate before the regular season starts."

On the biggest problem for the first offensive unit: "I thought the first defensive unit did all right, as did the second offense. On the other hand, the first offense had an inability to run the ball tonight. Miami penetrated on our offense and they played in our backfield at times. We must establish the run in order to be successful this year."

On the play of the special teams units: "Miami came after us hard on special teams tonight. Don't be surprised if changes come in our special teams areas. Overall, I wasn't very pleased with the special teams at all."

On the offensive units: "Looking at the offense, we definitely struggled with our first offensive unit. Our pass protection was a little shaky. But, the second offensive group did a good job throwing the ball."

On the area of most concern: "The tackling on this team is definitely a concern. It must be a priority for this team. It must be addressed on a daily basis, so that we get better and continue to improve."

THE PLAYER PERSPECTIVE:

Linebacker Anthony Davis, on his interception: "It felt really good. I was thinking about doing the 'Lambeau Leap.' I just saw it go up there and luckily I caught it. I've been working on catching the ball with (linebackers coach) Johnny (Holland), and tonight it paid off."

Defensive End Keith McKenzie, on his performance: "I was doing the things I always try to do -- get after the quarterback and have a good showing. I wanted to show them that I'm going to play hard and make a lot of plays."

Wide Receiver Bill Schroeder, on his touchdown: "Matt (Hasselbeck) knew that I was going to be the one to have to get open. He threw a great ball. As I continued toward the end zone, I saw the two men converging on me. I knew I had to get in the end zone. I didn't think I would be able to dive in, so I tried going up and over them. I got lucky and got in."

Safety Chris Akins, on his performance: "I was in the right place at the right time. On the interception, I thought the receiver was going to run a fly, but he ran a post. I just tried to play it so that I could get to the fly pattern if he ran it. But he ran a post, which put me in a better position because I was playing inside on him, so it was in my favor."

Cornerback Antuan Edwards, on playing tonight: "It was really a test. I needed that, just to get my body ready for the regular season. It felt good. I have a long way to go. I'm ready to go ahead and make it happen in the regular season."

Cornerback Fred Vinson, on playing tonight: "It felt really good. I was glad to get a chance to show what I could do. When they ask me to play ball, I have to be ready to play ball."

Punter Chris Hanson, on his performance: "I'm really glad to be here. I'm ready to go watch film tomorrow, review what's going on, and get ready for the next game. The 64-yarder felt nice, I was glad to have that, but I'm mad that I had the one that got tipped. I did well, I think. I handled pressure well; I'm ready for the next game."

Running Back Basil Mitchell, on his performance: "I couldn't have done better. Two touchdowns is nice. I think I missed a couple of holes, but otherwise I think I did all right. I had a couple good pick-ups blocking, which was nice."

Mitchell, on his first touchdown: "It was me and a linebacker, one on one. I knew what I was going to do before the play. I just hoped the quarterback saw me, and hopefully I could split the two safeties, and it happened just like that."

Mitchell, on his second touchdown: "We knew they were blitzing. I wanted to get out in the clear and let the quarterback see me. I thought someone would be there when I turned around. I was surprised when I turned around and all I saw was the end zone."

Running Back De'Mond Parker, on his performance: "I think I did pretty well. The coaches gave me a chance, and I just took advantage of it. I saw some big holes. The fullback and the line blocked well all night. I just made the most out of it."
