Green Bay vs. Philadelphia - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Regular Season - Packers Win 6-3

HEAD COACH MIKE SHERMAN POSTGAME COMMENTS:
(on his first victory) "This is not exactly the way I would've drawn it up. I'm very excited that we won the game because I'd hate the alternative of going to practice as an 0-3 team. But I'm realistic enough that we have to fix problems. We're not going to win games by this score very often."

(on the offense) "I believe execution, sacks and penalties have hurt us at times. I have confidence in our offensive staff that we'll get through this. I think we're a better football team than what we were today offensively, and I know we'll get there.

"I thought Brett was pressured heavily during the game and that's something we have to look at."

(on Dorsey Levens' return) "I thought, considering the fact he has not really had mini-camp or preseason practice to speak of, he did really well. "

(on the defense) "I was very pleased with the way the defense performed. I was very pleased with the chemistry of the defense. I met with the defensive team on Wednesday and told them how proud I was, how they've grown throughout the season. I think that's a credit to our defensive coaches."

QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE:
(on the Eagles) "They're a good football team. I think they're better than people give them credit for."

(on the offense) "We had some chances today down the field and short and we didn't make them. A lot of that you can credit to the Philadelphia defense, but we have to make those plays. If a guy is open, then I'll throw it to him. If he drops it, then I'll throw it to him again."

(on the win) "You can call it an ugly win, but it's a win. Sometimes you have to win them like that. If anything, a game like that will build character, it'll bring a team together more than anything. You have to win games like that sometimes when you're not on the same page, when you don't get the third downs...We'll get on the same page."

(on Dorsey Levens' return) "I think he's a huge part of our offense. Having him out there means a lot."

RUNNING BACK DORSEY LEVENS:
(on what hurts) "Everywhere except my knee. It's the first time I've been hit since January of last year in the Arizona game. So I'm a little beat up, but my knee feels great."

(on the offensive line) "I think we did struggle a little up front. I think we need a little work up there. It'll come in time, though."

(on the offense) "Until we can go out there and execute, then I think there's reason to worry."

(on Ahman Green) "It takes some of the pressure off me. I don't feel obligated to stay in there when I'm tired. He can come in and get the job done."

(on the win) "A win is a win -- we'll take them how we can get them. When you're 0-2, you can't complain about how you get a win." (on Coach Mike Sherman) "That guy works his tail off. He's been trying to motivate us and get us ready to play. We haven't necessarily gone out and performed as we should, but I'm happy for him."

KICKER RYAN LONGWELL:
(on the game winning field goal) "It was great. I was real disappointed that I missed that first one, but I've been hitting the ball real well, so I just went out, helped my teammates out and made it."

(on hitting a last-second field goal) "It's my first one ever, going back to high school, college, junior high and everything. It's exciting to get that monkey off my back and just go on."

PUNTER JOSH BIDWELL:
(on his personal performance) "I was real pleased with the way I hit them. I hit them high and got some distance on a couple, and that will cut down on returns."

(on finding a kicking rhythm) "I feel real good right now. There were pretty light winds out there today, and I was able to catch the ball and get it off really quickly and position the ball well."

(on his first win as a professional) "It's definitely special. I didn't have this feeling for the first two games. Now, to get this victory, it tastes real good, and it's going to add a fire to everybody now."

OFFENSIVE TACKLE MARK TAUSCHER:
(on the team's first win) "It felt great to get out there. It was obviously a struggle offensively today, but we got a big win, and that's all that really matters."

(on his personal game) "I did alright. I had some breakdowns on some plays. I'll have to watch the film to see exactly what happened. But I got out there and felt like I gave a great effort. I made some mistakes, which you're going to do, but, all in all, it went alright."

WIDE RECEIVER DONALD DRIVER:
(on making key catches during the second half) "It's always been said ever since I got here that when the opportunity comes, you have to make plays. The coaches gave me the opportunity. They trusted me and put me out there, and I made some great plays for them."

(on the confidence of the offense during the game's final drive) "There's never any doubt. We're just going in there and staying focused on what we have to do. We knew we had to come in here and win this game, and that's what we did. Ryan made a great kick to win it for us, and we got the victory."

(on his role in the offense) "I'm fine. When the opportunity comes up for me to play, I'm going to step up and play. The coach put me in there to step up and play, and that's all I'm going to do."

WIDE RECEIVER ANTONIO FREEMAN:
(on the team's first win) "You have to take it how you can get it. We could very easily be sitting here 0-3, but instead we're 1-2. A win goes a long way in this league."

(on the defense) "Our defense fought and scratched and clawed all game long. Offensively, we struggled. We did some good things, and then we made mistakes and turned the ball over. Our defense really kept us in the ballgame."

(on the game's final drive) "With four-and-a-half, five minutes left in the game, we had to have a sense of urgency. We wanted to put together a nice drive, and we put together a nice drive, and Ryan Longwell won the game for us."

(on getting hit and leaving the game in the second quarter) "I was coming across the middle, and I went to make a play on the ball. All I know is my neck snapped back. It was a pretty emotional game for me. All I could think of was that I was paralyzed. When I got hit, I immediately wiggled my leg, and I had motion in my body. I came back in and took X-rays, said a prayer, thanked the Lord, because things could have been a lot worse. I was determined not to let my team go out there without me. It can hurt all it wants all night, but we won the game, and I was able to finish with my team."

DEFENSIVE TACKLE SANTANA DOTSON:
(on whether he played his best game of the season) "I don't know. I know that, defensively, this was our best game. We're really trying to grow as a unit, and I think it's showing. Every game we're getting stronger, and every game we have more belief in what we're being asked to do out there. I think my role is big in this defense, and this might have been my biggest game as far as numbers are concerned. But more importantly, as a unit, this was our biggest game."

(on home field advantage) "The crowd helped us. It was a close game. In the second half, we went in and made some big plays and big hits to get the crowd into it. I think everybody in the crowd was kind of on their heels, kind of weary. Everyone is used to us scoring 27 or 30 points, but it's not always going to be like that. It was a defensive battle today, and our crowd really stepped up in the second half."

(on what the defense does to get better) "We're going to enjoy this victory for another day or day-and-a-half, then we're going to come in with our minds set for the Cardinals. We'll accept nothing but a victory on the road, doing whatever it takes to go into hostile territory and come out with a victory to put us back at .500."

LINEBACKER BERNARDO HARRIS:
(on the defense's effort) "It was a great effort. We came out and knew what we wanted to get done. We wanted to win the game any way we could. We wanted to keep fighting, keep working hard. We knew it was going to be a tough battle, because they have a great defense, but we wanted to step up and show that we're a great defense also. We just came out and fought hard today."

CORNERBACK TOD McBRIDE:
(on his personal performance) "I wouldn't call it a 'statement,' but when my name is called, I can step up and do the job."

(on the defense's second-half adjustments) "The screen was a big emphasis. They kept dumping the ball to Duce Staley, and we just wanted to corral him and contain him. That was really our main objective."
