HEAD COACH STEVE MARIUCCI:
(on the pass interference call in the end zone on the 49ers) "That is
something the league is going to have to address." (No chance for a challenge from the coaching staff.)
"This win got away from us.
"We were playing with linebackers right off the practice squad.
"We let (Brett) Favre do some of those miraculous things today.
"We haven't found a way to get over the hump, but we're close. It won't be
easy.
"This team doesn't lack any fight. I have never seen anything like it.
"We have to learn how to win.
"The Packers have a good defense, their scheme was good, they did a variety
of blitzing. It was a little late before we got going.
"This (game) ranks right up there with the most emotional losses. We had a
chance to win.
"One day, soon I hope, we'll get a break."
DEFENSIVE TACKLE BRYANT YOUNG:
"We played hard. They got a couple of sacks and capitalized on it.
"We have to go out and make the big play. And we have to stop giving up the

(on Brett Favre) "He make the big play; he rolls out and is hard to get.

starters before we could get going.

"We had to make so many substitutions -- that take a team out of its rhythm.
"Our corners covered well for the most part."

"The team is playing with a lot of heart.
"T.O. (Terrell Owns) is on a roll -- it's hard to stop him. His play is
unbelievable. With the football he is playing right now, they (defending
teams) will have to double-team him. "He ranks right up there with Randy
Moss.
"We have to be more aggressive at the start. In the first series, we were
three-and-out.
"Green Bay kept bring a lot of guys. They put pressure on (Jeff) Garcia to
get rid of the ball. This season Garcia is more experienced and he's more
composed.
"This game is very frustrating. We have to look at the big picture. Our
mistakes can be corrected. There is no finger-pointing on this team -- we
just have to get it done."
WIDE RECEIVER TERRELL OWENS:
"The defense is playing well -- we're just coming up short.
"(Brett) Favre can be really dangerous.
"I'm going out to play hard, trying to help this team win. I'm very
emotional and very aggressive.
"This offense is very explosive.
"At the end (of the game), we just needed a bit more time. We could have
scored.
"This is a great team; the main thing is we are sticking together.
"It's my job to catch the ball and get up the field."
QUARTERBACK JEFF GARCIA:
"We hoped to get down the field and tie the game with a field goal.
"It's tough to swallow this loss. We are competitive every game -- we have
never been blown out. We're just not finishing.
"We're improving, but it is just not showing in the won-loss column.
"The Packers have a tough defense. They are mixing it up -- that forced me
to make some quick decisions.
"In the second half we moved the ball well, but so did they.
"(Terrell) Owens just explodes to the end zone.
"In the second half, they weren't stopping us and we were clicking."
