Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

GM/HEAD COACH MIKE SHERMAN:
(on the akins penalty) "We had the personal foul assessment against Chris akins. I spoke to the official on what exactly happened. I wanted Chris out of the game immediately, but we couldn't get their attention in the huddle. There was another play where they ran the ball to our defensive right which he was a part of a gang tackle on that side. at that point I got him out of the game and wanted to talk to him about the penalty situation which certainly was a costly penalty. He was still emotional from the play that just occurred I'm sure and we had a discussion there that will end up with me coming back later and discussing it even further. That was the end of it."

(on the game) "In the National Football League you're expected to come and play at the top of your game every single week. When you look at scores around the league, it doesn't always come out that way. It certainly wasn't the case today. We did not play well as a football team and I'm not taking anything away from them. I thought they did play well; they moved the football when they had to move it and they stopped us when they had to stop us."

(on Ryan Longwell) "The one bright spot in this game, if there was one, was Ryan Longwell - other than kicking the ball out of bounds one time when we asked him to kick the ball a little bit to his left which may have been more our fault than his. I thought he responded to the challenge on the kickoffs and did a nice job there."

(on the last offensive play) "We ran some crossing routes underneath and it was the same play we scored a touchdown on against Chicago in the two minute situation at the end of the half. He thought he had shot there and he took a shot."

QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE:
(on starting slow) "I think it's the fact of a team with some guys not ready to play - that's all I can think of. We're a better football team than them - you say what you want to say. It's a great job on their part in winning and they're tickled to death as they should be, but that wasn't the Green Bay team I know of."

(on preparation) "I practice the same way every week. I prepare the same way every week - I don't care who we play. It doesn't guarantee you're going to play perfect every week, but I've been around too long to take anyone lightly or to try and prepare differently for a team just because they're better or not as good."

(on his last pass that was intercepted) "Two outside guys have dead sprint 'gos' - one-on-one with the corners is what we were hoping for. We had an underneath shallow cross by Free and ahman on a shallow cross himself. I'd thrown the ball to Corey (Bradford) earlier on ambrose."

WIDE RECEIVER ANTONIO FREEMAN:
(on his TD reception) "Brett got the call from the sideline and he changed the formation because he expected blitz. The guy blitzed and left the middle of the field open. It's what we talk about all week in practice - utilizing the hole in the middle of the field."

(on his connection with Favre after moving into 5th place on the NLF's all-time QB/WR touchdown combo list) "It's natural whenever opportunity knocks. We don't get as many chances as we used to with what defenses are doing. It's just answering the call when opportunity knocks."

LINEBACKER BERNARDO HARRIS:
(on his interception) "I was dropping in my drop. I saw the fullback go out in the flat and I thought he was going to throw it to him early but he didn't. He was holding and I was trying to get in the passing lane. He released it and I saw the ball in the air. I didn't think much, I just tried to catch."

(on tackling with the cast) "It was a situation where you want to try and use it but it's kind of difficult. You use a lot of body tackles just trying to throw your body in there to make a play."

(on how the defense approaches the next game) "You need to go out there play with effort, play physical and win; that's the most important thing. We couldn't stop atlanta today for whatever reason it was. We didn't play our best football today. We wanted go out there for the win and didn't come through on our part. We have another chance Thursday with a big divisional game on the road Thanksgiving Day. We'll be ready to play for that."

WIDE RECEIVER BILL SCHROEDER:
(on his TD catch) "It was a play that was designed to go to the right and Brett said in the huddle that 'if it turns out that I'm scrambling, go back outside.' That's what I did and he just threw it up there."

(on staying in the game until the end) "The defense played very, very well. They gave us a chance at the end of the game as they stopped them when they needed to give us a chance to win the game. That's what they needed to do and with four minutes left in the game our entire was no quitting."

KICKER RYAN LONGWELL:
(on how close the offense needed to get to attempt a field goal at the end) "We gave the thirty-five yard line. Maybe we would have caught the wrong gust if we had got there, but we hit the 53-yarder in pregame through the gust and the wind pretty good. Obviously the closer the better, but I was ready to go."

(on where the team is now) "It's very frustrating. The good thing is that we don't have too long to sulk about it because we have to come back and play on Thursday. It's disappointing. atlanta is not a 4-4 team coming in, they barely lost a couple of those games. We thought they were a good team, but we really didn't play our game today."

(on letdowns after big wins) "I think it's a maturing process we have to go through as a team. There are no easy wins in the NFL, they pay everybody the same on every team. Whether you're at home or away it doesn't make a difference when you have to play the game on Sunday. We just didn't do that as a team today."
