Packers Player Of The Game
With his fourth interception of the season and a crucial fumble recovery near the goal line, rookie Marques Anderson did what he could to allow the Packers to try and come back from a 14-point deficit. Anderson also made six tackles on the day, four of them unassisted.
Vikings Player Of The Game
With a pair of interceptions, linebacker Greg Biekert allowed the Vikings to win the turnover war, and ultimately the game. Minnesota forced Brett Favre to throw three picks on the afternoon, his first multi-interception game of the season. The last time Favre threw three interceptions in a regular season game was Nov. 18, 2001, against Atlanta.
Stat Of The Game
The Packers and Vikings combined for 223 penalty yards. The Packers were flagged 13 times for 118 yards. The Vikings were flagged 12 times for 105 yards.
Play Of The Game
Had the Packers prevailed, you could have pointed to Tyrone Davis' fourth-down reception, Marques Anderson's goal-line fumble recovery and Donald Driver's 84-yard touchdown reception as keys to the victory. Instead, the play of the game goes to Minnesota's Moe Williams, who answered Driver's touchdown with a 51-yard kickoff return. Boosted by a 15-yard penalty, the Vikings started their possession from the Green Bay 33-yard-line. Eight plays later, Gary Anderson's 32-yard field goal broke the tie. Later, Michael Bennett would close the door with a 62-yard run that set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Williams.
THEY SAID IT
Marques Anderson --
On Vikings' quick start on offense: "I think it was a little surprising they went with no-huddle. They came out fast. Any time you have Randy Moss on the field you have big-play potential and he showed that early. As we got into the groove of things, we kind of settled down and got a feel for what they were trying to do and started making some plays. It was a little bit surprising, but that's why you play four quarters."
On difficulty of playing in Metrodome: "It's not difficult at all. I'm not going to blame anything on the Metrodome. In my eyes we should have beat them, Metrodome or not. If we were playing in the parking lot, we should have beat them. This loss right here will really show the character of our team. I think this is something that's going to pull us tighter. We still haven't got our eyes off our goal, we just now go back, reload and come back firing."
Mike Flanagan --
On offense's slow start: "I think every time we touched the ball we got better and better. First a three-and-out, four-and-out, five-, whatever, but at least we were expanding and starting to move the ball a little bit. In the second half we put some points on the board, but they made the most of their opportunities and we didn't."
On why Packers struggled to run the ball: "I think that's one of those thing you have to watch film to really know. They weren't blitzing a lot, they were playing a lot of stuff we expected them to do. Usually when that's the case it just means we're not executing."
On team's reaction after falling down 14-0 early: "You expect it to be panicked and, 'oh (expletive), here we go again,' but I didn't get that feeling. We just needed to come out and do our thing. We slowly, slowly came around and then just couldn't finish it off."
Marco Rivera --
On game: "It hurts, any loss hurts. It's our second loss, but it still hurts. We practiced well this week. I thought we had a good game plan, we came in here, I'm proud of the guys, they played hard . . . (The Vikings) were on fire today, we couldn't do anything to calm those guys down."
On injury: "The doctors thinks it's MCL (medial collateral ligament). We won't really know until tomorrow, until the MRI to find out what really happened. I did feel a pop. It's really sore right now."
Darren Sharper --
On game: "Whenever you get down 14 points and you're playing away, it's tough. We fought back and made it close, but they were able to squeeze it out at the end. It just came down to they made more plays than we did. But it's always tough to get down early on. You don't want to put yourself into a hole, but it happened and the only thing we could do was try to fight our way out of it."
On if defense experienced a setback: "I don't think it was as setback. Maybe a minor setback. You're going to have those throughout the season. It would have been beautiful if we could have gone 15-1, now we have to go 14-2. We're going to have setbacks in the season, we just have to work through them and try to learn from mistakes and try to go out there next time and prove ourselves."
Tyrone Williams --
On trying to cover Vikings receivers: "You get over the top on them, they're throwing the ball behind you. You get behind, they're throwing it deep, so it makes it extremely difficult if you're a corner."
Javon Walker --
On Vikings: "They had a good game, they made a lot of big plays. We didn't make as many big plays. Hopefully we can turn it around, look at the film and get ready for these guys in two weeks."
