They Said It
S DARREN SHARPER (on progress of the defense): "I am very pleased with where we are right now. We're playing aggressive things are starting to come together. But it's only preseason."
Sharper (on Jacksonville QB Leftwich): "I think Leftwich is going to be a heck of player, but he's still in a little bit of a learning curve. He's got all the tools, throws the ball and makes proper reads. He's also got a strong receiving corps that's young. When you add Jimmy Smith to that, and realize that they're also getting Fred (Taylor) back, it's adds a whole new dimension to this football team."
WR Javon Walker (the former FSU player on returning to Florida): "It's always good coming back. This is where I live in the off-season. It's a great feeling being here and also seeing some of my old teammates. Greg (Jones) had a heck of a game. I knew he was a great back from Day One. Once he gets things going, he's going to be a good back in this league.
Walker (on the Packer receivers): "We know what we had last year and we know what we can do this year. We're just trying to get through the preseason, find out things that we need to work on and, hopefully, be ready for Carolina on Monday Night Football to open the season. Everyone's back. We know what it felt like last year in the playoffs and we're trying not to let that happen again."
S MARK ROMAN: "It's a learning experience to everybody - playing against a pretty powerful offense like the Jaguars. For example, No. 33 (Greg Jones) is a big load. That is a big man. Also, as long as you have Jimmy Smith on your team, you can make a lot of things happen. So, if Leftwich was here and there was no Jimmy Smith, it might just be a lot different."

The Said It (Packers Halftime Quotes):
Head Coach Mike Sherman:
(on the game) "I was really happy with our defensive performance in the first half. Our guys did a great job of keeping them out of the end zone. Offensively, it seemed like we couldn't get in the flow. We had a penalty here or turnover there that stopped us from moving the ball. We've got to get into the end zone more."
Quarterback Brett Favre:
(on touchdown pass to Ferguson) "He ran a great route. Just like usual, it was set up by the running game. Ahman (Green) made a great fake and the offensive line put a great mask on it. That brought the safeties up and Ferg was right there."
(on getting Ferguson and Wahle back) "That's all great because we're getting closer to the season. We still have a ways to go though. We're still not hitting on all cylinders, but I was glad to see our running game get a little better tonight."
Wide Receiver Robert Ferguson:
(on 52-yard touchdown) "I just got him leaning to the outside and broke it in on the post and was wide open."
(on being back on the field) "It feels great to be able to get my first score of the preseason and it feels great to get that off my back."
Guard Mike Wahle:
(on being back on the field) "It feels great to be playing again. I'm a little tired and I feel a little rusty, but I'm having a lot of fun and I like competing."
(on the running game) "We got the running game going. They stopped us a little, but we did what we can."
