Packers-Cowboys Post Game Notes
- Today's paid attendance was 70,679.
- The Packers have put together three consecutive 400-yard games for the first time since they did it four games in a row in 1989 (Sept. 17 - Oct. 8). Green Bay accumulated 486 total offensive yards vs. Dallas.
- Brett Favre played in his 200th career NFL game, and his 100th career NFL home contest (including 1991 with Atlanta). There are only 21 other active NFL players have accomplished the feat. The only other quarterback who has played 200 or more games is Dallas' Vinny Testaverde, who played in his 207th contest.
-Favre extended his streak of games with a touchdown pass to 32, lengthening the NFL's second-longest streak of all-time.
- Ahman Green's 90-yard TD run is the third longest run from scrimmage in team history. Green holds the record with a 98-yard TD run against Denver on Dec. 28, 2003. Andy Uram ran for a 97-yard score vs. Chicago on Oct. 8, 1939.
- Green is now just the second player in league history to have two touchdown runs of 90 yards or more. Bo Jackson is the other, with both of his runs occurring during the 1987 season.
- The 90-yard Green rush is the longest run in NFL history against the Dallas Cowboys.
- Green now has 27 career 100-yard games, breaking Hall of Famer Jim Taylor's franchise previous record of 26 career 100-yard games.
- With his two touchdowns today, Green moved into No. 5 on the all-time Green Bay TD list with 58 passing Antonio Freeman (57).
- Green moved past Don Hutson in all-time team total offense with his 8,345 total offensive yards.

- Javon Walker moved over 100 career receptions and now has 105. He needed three receptions coming into today's contest.

Packers-Cowboys Post Game Quotes
GM/HEAD COACH MIKE SHERMAN:
Injuries: S Darren Sharper, PCL- may be available as early as next week
TE Bubba Franks, stinger - returned
G Marco Rivera, sprained ankle - not able to return
QB Brett Favre, hand - returned
(on winning at home) "It feels like it is long overdue. I told the players that we should expect this - expect to win at home, even though we had a very worthy opponent today or any day. In front of our crowd, in our stadium, we should expect to win and our fans today were phenomenal."
(on execution in game and play calling) "I think we are coming into our own a little bit, I wish we could have come into our own sooner. We made some strides today converting 9 of 12 third downs and certainly when you do that and you are pretty good in the red zone, you are going to score points and move the football and that is what it was today. Trust me it is not the plays, it is the players making plays and when they go up and make plays and throws and catches and runs and blocks it is easy to call the game."
(on (Bryan) Barker punting) "He had a great punt at the end when he had to punt. If we can keep our punter on the bench and he can come in and do the job he did that is a great thing. He had a nice punt when he had to punt and put them down there and created great field position for us."
(on (Brett) Favre throwing blocks) "Well asking for him not to throw blocks is like taking part of who he is away. Yes, I tell him not to do that, I do not know if he is going to listen to me. He is going to react to what he sees and if he has an opportunity to help a teammate gain another five yards he is going to do it. Do I want him to do it - no. But that is part of who he is. That is what makes him the competitor he is and I think that it is inspiring to the others on our team when they see him do that. But that's him, you can't take that away."
(on comfort in being in same position as last year with record) "I do not know if there is any comfort involved in regard to what we haven't done. There is comfort in knowing we won our last two and we are getting better and there is a good chemistry in the locker room. When I look at our team and we were having that rough stretch at 1-4 and we are still in the hole, we are still climbing our way out, don't get me wrong we have a long way to go. But if we didn't have the right guys in the locker room then we wouldn't be able to win today or last week or hopefully in the future. I credit the leadership in the locker room and the men that keep things together because it is not fun to live in Green Bay, Wisconsin when you are 1-4."
QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE:
(on coach Mike Sherman calling plays and its influence): "I think that he has done a fine job. I feel like we have executed much better. I feel like we have executed the way we were supposed to from the start. It is just a matter of if we can stay consistent from here on out. That would be the obvious band wagon to jump on.(pertaining to them winning when Coach Sherman is calling the plays) Mike has been doing a fine job but we are not doing anything new."
(on thinking about throwing the block): "No thinking goes into the block until after the fact. It happened so quick today. I thought I was just going to get run-slapped over it happened so fast. I shouldn't say no thinking. I'm thinking that maybe I can give him the one block he needs to score. I'm out to win. I would hate to sit there and watch film tomorrow and see myself pass up the block and that guy ends up hitting Ahman (Green) and causing a fumble or getting him hurt or knowing that he might have gotten a first down. To me it is a no-brainer."
(on his hand injury): "I think it was first or second quarter. I can't remember but I don't want to say it didn't bother me. It doesn't feel to good right now. I hit a guys helmet and it jammed down in my wrist. I played to rest of the game and as the game progressed it felt worse and worse and I started thinking about last year when I broke my thumb. I did it third or fourth play of the game in the third or fourth quarter and I am thinking 'thank goodness it is not broken,' I am not saying I broke my hand but I am going to go back in and get it checked out."
(on winning at home): "Well considering we were 0 and 3 it means a lot but a win is a win we will take them any way we can get them. We are still just under .500 as well as we have played the last two weeks. So we have a long way to go so hopefully this is just the start and I promise you it will not get any easier from now on regardless of who we play. Now for the most part everyone will jump on the band wagon say we are playing great and all that stuff but no one is going to take us lightly and I hope our guys realize that."
FULLBACK WILLIAM HENDERSON:
(on Head Coach Mike Sherman calling the plays) "We practice and play as a team, and win and lose as a team. Whoever calls the plays, we execute them. The players haven't changed, the offense hasn't changed - It's our base offense - so I'm not even going to start with some conspiracy. Whoever called the plays today did a great job, but we did an even better job of executing the plays. That's why we are able to turn even small runs, like that 90-yard run by A.G. (Green) which wasn't supposed to be a 90-yard run, into a big play."
(on Ahman Green's 90-yard TD run) "Every run can be a touchdown. A 'Fullback Zero' can be a touchdown run with an eight-man front if guys go out there and execute, and we catch somebody stumbling in the wrong place. Every play can be a huge play if we can go out and execute."
(on the support of the fans) "We'd like to dedicate this one to the fans. They deserved it. They still supported us regardless of what was going on. They never lost faith in us even though some of the media had. We're in the same position now as we were last year (3-4). We have to go out there and capitalize on a lot more opportunities. It's still a long season and we have another huge challenge next week."
LINEBACKER HANNIBAL NAVIES:
(on the first home win of the season) "It feels unbelievable. I never thought I'd feel so good, winning at home. You can't take anything for granted, and we see that now. Our first win at home after playing a few times before...it feels good."
(on the team's confidence level) "I think we're playing with a little more confidence, but we're also playing together. It's coming together for us, and it is giving us a little bit of a swagger."
(on the biggest difference from earlier in the season) "We had to play more consistent and stop making little mistakes. We've been able to tone down those mistakes and that has been the difference."
WIDE RECEIVER JAVON WALKER:
(on giving Lambeau fans a victory) "It felt good. That's for the fans. They've been waiting for this all year, it something we've wanted to give them and everything is beginning to come together."
(on the recent outburst in point production) "We know how we have to execute. We're being more disciplined and doing exactly what we are supposed to do. Now we have to keep doing that. As long as we keep believing in our game and execute plays, that's what are offense can do."
(on being in tune with QB Brett Favre) "That's what practice is for. Everything we do out here is not just because it happened. It's what we do at practice, and we are going to continue to work at it."
TACKLE CHAD CLIFTON:
(on the victory) "There's definitely a rivalry there between the Packers and the Cowboys going back to the 1990s, and it feels good to get that first win at home in front of our fans."
(on the team's psyche) "With every win comes a little more confidence, but you can't think too highly of yourself when you get a 'W.' We just have to focus on Washington - our next opponent - and enter the bye at 4-4."
(on the offense's ability to score) "I think the biggest thing is that we are not turning the ball over right now. If we don't turn the ball over, this offense can be great. We can put up a lot of points and a lot of yards. If we keep the ball and don't turn it over, this is the kind of output we can do every week."
CORNERBACK AL HARRIS:
(on if the defense changes after the offense scores on seven straight possessions) "Personally, once the offense scores, that gets us pumped up. But we know the other team is trying to score also, so we have to go out there and do what we do well...(The offense) definitely motivates us, and Coach Sherman did a great job calling the plays. Every time they score, that gives us more motivation."
(on whether the Packers were sending a message to the rest of the NFL) "No. We're just trying to fly right up under the radar. We just want to keep stacking the wins."
COWBOYS HEAD COACH BILL PARCELLS:
(on where the Cowboys go from here) "The season isn't going anywhere if we don't get going. This is certainly the low-point of my tenure here in Dallas, without question. I am embarrassed to put a team on the field that looks like that."
(on if the Cowboys game plan was to control the clock) "We came in with the intention of moving the ball and trying to score. We tried to stay with that the whole day. I think we might have had a chance to be a little bit more balanced if the score wasn't so prohibitive."
(on what he tells his team after a game like this) "Unless we get things squared away, we aren't going anywhere. We are in a bad way injury-wise I think. It is just a whole combination of things. It's a low point right now, but we will see what we can do. I guess you have to go back to the drawing board, because quite apparently what I am doing isn't working right either, so I'll have to reassess that.
(on his team's execution) "Offensively we executed decently. I don't know how many yards we had, we had quite a few and we did execute in the passing game pretty well. Defensively we don't tackle; we don't look like we know what we are doing. Special teams wasn't much better either."
COWBOYS SAFETY ROY WILLIAMS:
(on the Cowboys' inability to stop the Packers on third down) "We did a poor job on third downs. They probably executed all their third downs until the fourth quarter when they punted. We didn't help the offense, and special teams didn't do a good job, and we just poorly executed defensively. We showed spurts, but it seemed liked we just let them have it on third downs."
(on the most frustrating part of the Cowboys' season) "The most frustrating part is that we show spurts of fighting, but sometimes we don't fight, and that is sad. There are no excuses for the way we played today."
(on Ahman Green's 90-yard touchdown run) "Our defense is about speed and pursuit to the ball. On that play, I don't know what happened. People were in the right gaps, I don't know what happened backside, but we don't let people run the ball like that. That is just sad. Our defense has to stop the run, and we couldn't do that. That isn't us. It is frustrating that it happened to our defense. We didn't do our job and we lost the game, point blank.
(on how Dallas can turn its season around) "It is a gut check. It is about individual players wanting to win and doing something good for the ball club. That is what we need to happen."
COWBOYS QUARTERBACK VINNY TESTAVERDE:
(on the loss) "It is just upsetting that we didn't play very well in any phase of the game today. I think we are all frustrated anytime you go through a game like this. If we can just win the next two games, we will be in a good situation."
(on not finishing early drives) "We talked last night about scoring touchdowns on the first two drives, and we fell short of that goal even though we got some points. We knew we had to keep up with their offense because we knew they were going to put points on the board."
(on staying positive) "I think we have some good leaders on this football team. I just have to keep a positive attitude and try to have the guys feed off of that and continue to go out and work hard. This team is made up of a lot of guys with character and I don't expect anything but good things to happen."
