PACKERS-TITANS POSTGAME QUOTES
HEAD COACH MIKE McCARTHY:
(On Noah Herron status)
"Noah (Herron) has a sprained knee and Tyrone (Culver) our other injured player has a sprained shoulder. Early indications they are not very serious. That's what we hear in the locker room."
(On getting a better evaluation of the younger guys playing against Titans starters)
"Clearly. That's what we talked about this week. They were not going to have an opportunity to play a lot of snaps and really had to do double duty. The offensive and defensive players also played special teams. You could really see that they were gassed and that was part of the evaluation too. Particular individuals pushed through that to be able to play against their ones. I thought it was a great opportunity and we took full advantage as a football team and we will have good film to evaluate in the morning."
(On special teams concerns)
"I think, once again, I will give you a clearer picture of it once I see the film on it. I think punting the ball down the middle of the field doesn't help so we will look at that too. That's never a positive. I'm not side stepping it. It was an opportunity to look at a lot of different players in different positions that they played both on special teams, offense and defense. I'm very pleased with the number of reps that we got and the situations we put our players in. I'm not very happy with the final score. The evaluation part of it, I thought we got a ton of information to draw from."
(On the first team getting enough work)
"One of the objectives that we had with the number one offense was I didn't feel we had enough no-huddle work. That's something we did more of in the practice plan but not enough in my opinion in the preseason games. What happened was the second series was a no-huddle series with Brett (Favre) on the touchdown and then the third series with Aaron (Rodgers) was a no-huddle series also. So I was very pleased to get that done. That was an objective I wanted to hit tonight."
(On Scott Wells' performance)
"Scott (Wells) has done an excellent job. He has had a good camp. He has been a little nicked the last week or so but he's our leader up front. He's in his second year into it so I'm very happy with Scott Wells."
(On Aaron Rodgers' game performance with the starters)
"I thought he did a nice job. He ran the no-huddle very well. I thought he moved outside the pocket and made plays. I think he clearly improved in that area from last year to this year as far as his out of pocket performance. In the second quarter I wasn't happy with some of the situations he was put into. I think Aaron, as a whole, had a very productive preseason. We are very comfortable where he is at."
(On seeing enough from DeShawn Wynn)
"Absolutely. He is one of the individuals I'm looking forward to watching on film. Particularly on the inside runs, he's got really quick feet. He got a ton of reps. I wanted to see if he could handle it all. I thought he had some nice runs. The film will tell us a lot more."
(On his feeling on the team 10 days prior to the season opener)
"I feel very good about it now. I see so many positive aspects of our football team that we will be able to build on. The only thing you have to compare it to is last year so we are clearly further ahead. I think our defense is clearly the catalyst of our football team. They have been the most consistent part of our football team and I think it will definitely carry over to special teams once we set those groups into core players who are playing all the time. I look for vast improvement in that area and I'm very comfortable with the ability of our offense to play whatever way we need to play to score points. That's how I feel about this football team."
(On if the Vince Young touchdown would have been reviewed in the regular season)
"Probably. No excuse but we didn't have a replay. Replay was out in our box. Based on a new rule, frankly I thought about challenging it but I had some other objectives as far as keeping the game moving. I definitely would have challenged it in the regular season."
C SCOTT WELLS:
(on not getting the running game going early)
"We were able to run the ball. We didn't have too many running opportunities. We took a lot of chances with the passing games. We were able to complete some balls down the field. I think we're going to pick up the running game. I really just run what is called."
(on needing to start the regular season with wins)
"Definitely. We need a quicker start. We are all jacked up and ready to go and get off to a fast start. We'll hopefully get some wins under our belt early instead of having to fight from behind."
(on running the no-huddle offense)
"Our tempo was great. We were getting the line down before their defense was set. I know several times we were lining up with 23 or 24 seconds on the clock. I remember getting the hand on the ball right after they blew the whistle to start. That really helps us out. It keeps them on their heals. It limits the blitz. It gets them gassed because they are used to rotating guys in and out."
DT JUSTIN HARRELL:
(on his progress during the preseason)
"I'm still learning. This whole defense is new to me. I just need to work out the kinks. It's one of these sports that takes time. Right now, I still have a lot of work to do and I need to keep working hard."
(on if there is less pressure on him because of the depth in the defensive tackle position)
"I look at it as a good thing. You have five guys that can play really good football. There is pretty much not a drop off. It makes the learning curve a little bit slower. There's not a lot of pressure on me trying to go out there and make an immediate impact."
RB DESHAWN WYNN:
(on his first game as a Packer)
"It went pretty well. I got a lot of quality reps in, so they could see what I could do. I feel good. It feels great to go out there and to play in my first professional game."
(on dropping a pass early in the game)
"I had a drop early on in the game that Brett threw to me. I should have caught it. It was all on me, but sometimes that's how it goes."
S CHARLIE PEPRAH:
(on evaluating his preseason performance)
"After going through what I did last year, you can't stress over it. I felt like I did a good job. I felt like I belong here and hopefully it plays out that way."
HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER:
(opening statements)
"This officially completes the preseason exercising. I have to say that considering what we have done the last couple of weeks, this team has shown that it has the ability to respond to challenges and to accept challenges. As a staff when they have placed emphasis on something they have responded. With that being said, I have to say that I feel pretty good about what we were able to accomplish."
"There are some very, very difficult decisions to make the next couple of days as far as the roster is concerned. However, this evening we did get some production out of some of the players that we needed to see production from."
"Overall, I think we have a healthy club right now going into the regular season. We had just a few minor things today. Casey Cramer has got a mild knee sprain. Aside from that, we have some normal bumps and bruises. It was a productive preseason from a health standpoint."
"A couple of side notes, the quarterbacks did not throw an interception this preseason which is good. For the most part, we protected the football. We got the football back. We did some good things on special teams from the core group guys all the way down to some of the younger guys."
"Now, everything we do from this point on is no different than what everybody else in the league (is doing) and that is to get ready for the opener. We start tomorrow with meetings and some difficult decisions and then begin preparations for Jacksonville."
(on Chris Davis' returns)
"We drafted him because of his return ability and we also drafted him because of his ability to make plays offensively. He has shown that. The last couple of weeks he has shown that he has the ability to receive the punt and go north and south with it, especially is good to see. We will continue to work with him as far as the decision making process."
(on being ready for start of regular season)
"We have done everything possible in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen some things be a little different in the two early preseason games, but those are behind us. We will have to see. This team loves to practice. It has endured some very difficult weather conditions over the last weeks. It is important that we freshen up, we rest up, and we focus. Now, it is time to put a good game plan together and sit and watch and execute for real."
(on Corey Simon getting playing time)
"I didn't see the tape, but it looks like he remembered how to play defensive tackle, which is good. I saw him involved in several plays just as they were happening. He felt good about what he was able to do considering he had an extended layoff."
(on LenDale White's block on Vince Young's TD run)
"I didn't see it, I just heard about it. That's not uncharacteristic of the guys on offense. They are all going to help the quarterback and they are going to help each other."
LB KEITH BULLUCK:
(on Vince Young)
"It's very important to have an established quarterback out there because he's the controller of the offense. If you don't have that, it is going to be tough no matter how good your defense is. Having his experience coming into his second year gives the entire team something to rally around. It balances our team up."
(on Titans preseason)
"We definitely can come out of preseason with a good feeling, but at the same time I've been on teams that were undefeated in the preseason and know the wins and losses don't tell much. The preseason as far as record-wise means too much. It's great for the team to fine tune and great for the coaches to find out what new additions will be on the team. But this week coming up is the week that we really have to zone in and get prepared for Jacksonville in our real season opener."
RT ALBERT HAYNESWORTH:
(on Titans 3-1 preseason record)
"It sounds alright, but what was that year that we went 4-0 in the preseason and ended up at 5-11? So that record don't really mean much."
(on Titans defense)
"You know, I feel good. I feel good about every season, so we just have to go out there and play and share our talents. We're really a good team with a good defensive line so we have to go out and prove it. But I think with the addition of Corey Simon, he's helped us. He's an upgrade and he is a good player."
WR CHRIS DAVIS:
(on scoring his first touchdown on a punt return)
"My first touchdown on a punt return was great. I kept getting closer every time I got the ball. It seemed like I was one cut or one tackle away. On that play it just happened for me."
(on momentum gained by scoring the touchdown)
"It gets the team excited. It makes everyone want to go out there and make a play. It helps boost our momentum."
(on being nervous about making punt returns)
"Even from the first punt, I felt comfortable being back there. On that play, I just felt comfortable and I found an opening."
RB CHRIS BROWN:
(on executing in short yardage situations)
"In those short yardage situations all you need is one yard. If you can get one yard, it's a win, so I have to get it by any means necessary."
(on winning three out of four preseason games)
"It feels good. It builds confidence for the team because we know that we can go out there and execute by putting points on the board and winning games."
(on if using a two running back system hurts his confidence)
"Not at all, because the way we run the ball we are going to utilize two backs anyway. We plan to run the ball a lot and take control of the clock in order to win games."
RUNNING BACK LENDALE WHITE:
(on making his case for starting at running back)
"Our offense is all running. You've got to pace yourself. You can't just hit the hole. You've got to time it up with the guys coming down making their blocks. On that 4th and 1, there was just a whole bunch of green grass. All I had to do was run through it."
(on what Vince Young said to him about his block on his touchdown run)
"He was just saying he loved me. Whatever I want from him, he said he will take care of it. I'm going to use that to my advantage."
(on team blocking)
"I'm going to do whatever I can whenever I'm out there. You know, I want the guys to do the same for me when they're out there. I've been playing with Vince (Young) for a while. You know when he is going to take off. I just see it, you know. I know if I didn't get my block, he wouldn't get in. I don't want to be that guy on film that everybody is talking about so I just had to get the block."
(on convincing everyone of his ability tonight)
"To be honest, I don't know if I really want to convince everybody. All I want to do is convince these guys that I'm playing with every Sunday. That's who I'm out there with and that's who I've got to fight with. As long as they're happy with what I did, that's all I need."
(on the team being ready for Jacksonville)
"I think we're close. We gotta go back tomorrow and watch the film. We've gotta tighten up on the little things. Whenever you think you're doing good, there's something that you can do better. So we just gotta work hard and get better at what we do."
(on being satisfied with showing people what he can do after being criticized)
"I always had faith in what I could do. Whatever people say, I just take that and run with it. People are going to talk and I feel like some people build you up just to break you down anyway. You've just got to fight through it. People are going to say what they say. You've just got to be tough, let things bounce off you and keep playing football."
(on which block was better – the one Kevin Mawae threw for him on the pass play or his for Young)
"I think they both equally were good. I'm going to take the one when I blocked for Vince because now I get to run up that play card."
(on seeing Chris Davis' return)
"Yeah. What's crazy is that me and Courtney Roby were on the sideline and we saw that he kicked it short. And we both said he has light. As soon as the guy kicked it, we just saw him take off. He's exciting to watch. Kind of reminds me of Pacman (Jones). I don't know if you want to hear that but he definitely reminds me of Pacman out there running the ball. He's just exciting to see. Every time they kick the ball to him, he can just do something out there and that's what we need. We need to add a third element. Not just offense, defense but we need something else on special teams."
(on heading to Jacksonville on this positive note)
"It's really important. I think everybody is kind of doubting us still out there. They don't think we still have it as a team. They question some of the moves we made in the off-season but we feel like the group that we have is good enough to beat anybody. And all we have do is continue to fight together and we will be alright."

PACKERS HALFTIME QUOTES
QB Brett Favre
(on the No. 1 offense)
"We got in the end zone, that's good. I thought we mixed it up well. A couple of reads I wish I had done something different. I got ahead of myself a little bit. Without watching the film, the first unit, the first two drives I thought we were fine except for a couple bad decisions I made."
(on using the no-huddle)
"We practiced it. We wanted to go a little up-tempo and see what we could do with it, see how we handled the heat and just the hurry-up part of it. That was the plan."
(on the TD to Herron)
"That was all Noah. They played coverage, had three guys out there over our two receivers on both sides, and Noah was one-on-one. He just caught the ball and made a hell of a play."
DE Aaron Kampman
(on whether the No.1 defense is ready for the regular season)
"Yeah, definitely. We didn't get a whole lot of work obviously this evening. Just that first series, three and out. But from what we've shown this preseason, I think we have a real good confidence going into the season. We're excited to get started and look forward to the challenge of Philadelphia."
