Coffman was in the right place at the right time

Posted Jun 14, 2014

Packers.com Editor Vic Ketchman sat down with former Packers tight end Paul Coffman who talked his beginnings as a walk-on, to becoming an undrafted free agent and doing whatever it took to become part of the team. Coffman spoke of his family of athletes and what it means to come back to Lambeau Field.

Coffman, a free agent in 1978, signed with the Packers and became a Pro Bowl-caliber tight end. In his second season, Coffman caught 56 passes, breaking Ron Kramer’s then-record for receptions by a tight end. He caught 322 passes for 39 touchdowns and averaged 13.1 yards per catch throughout his career. Coffman is sixth in team annals for most consecutive games with a reception (50) and was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1994.
