Dino Heinemeyer Of Shiocton High School Named Green Bay Packers High School Coach Of The Week

Posted Oct 21, 2009

Dino Heinemeyer, of Shiocton (Wis.) High School, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Heinemeyer's Chiefs team improved to 8-0 after defeating conference-rival Iola-Scandinavia by a score of 14-7 last Friday. The Chiefs now travel to Manawa to face the Wolves on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.

"It's always a goal to win a conference championship and after last week's victory we've at least clinched a share of that, but we’re not looking to settle for a tie," Heinemeyer’s said. “A win tomorrow can cap off that perfect season, and we can clinch the title by ourselves.”

A native of Shiocton and an alumnus of the program he currently leads, Heinemeyer was a three-way player during his own prep career, appearing at halfback, cornerback, and placekicker under head coach Joe Schleis at the school.

He attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he graduated in 1990.

Heinemeyer, who is also the school's special education teacher and varsity baseball coach, has been heading up the football program since 2000. He and his staff oversee a program that includes 47 players. He is assisted by Dion Heinemeyer, Greg Roesler, and Nick Senger.

Heinemeyer and his wife, Sara, have a daughter, Laken, and two sons, Mitchell and Jacob.

The Packers will recognize one outstanding high school coach as their 'Coach of the Week' winner during the 2009 high school football season. Winners are awarded several items and privileges, including a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL, as well as recognition of the award on packers.com.

Nominations for Coach of the Week should be submitted by 9 a.m. every Monday to Tim Schroeder, community outreach coordinator, at coachoftheweek@packers.com (e-mail) or by fax at (920) 569-7302. Please include the nominee's name, address, school, phone number, and reason he/she is deserving of the award.
