Former Packers Ellis and McGeorge to meet with fans this weekend

Posted Oct 16, 2013

Former players at Packers Pro Shop Saturday, Tundra Tailgate Zone and Legends Club Sunday

Leading up to the Green Bay Packers game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Oct. 20, featured Packers alumni Ken Ellis and Rich McGeorge will be signing autographs and visiting with fans in the Packers Pro Shop on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

The Tundra Tailgate Zone will also feature McGeorge on gameday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m., where he will be visiting with fans and signing autographs. More information on the Tundra Tailgate Zone can be found online at www.packers.com/gameday/tundra-tailgate-zone.html.

Also on Sunday, Ellis will be visiting with fans and signing autographs during that same time in the Legends Club on the Associated Bank Club Level, an area accessible to game attendees with suite or club seat tickets, as a guest of the ‘Alumni Meet and Greet.’

Ellis, a fourth-round draft pick in 1970 from Southern University, starred at cornerback for the Packers for six seasons (1970-75). The Packers Hall of Famer was also an outstanding punt return specialist, leading the league in 1972 in punt return average (15.4 yards). On Sept. 19, 1971, against the New York Giants, Ellis returned a blocked field goal attempt 100 yards for a touchdown. The return is still the longest return of a missed field goal in franchise history. Speedy and talented, Ellis was a two-time Pro Bowler (1973-74) and two-time All-Pro (1972-73).

McGeorge, picked No. 16 overall in the 1970 NFL Draft from Elon University, played nine seasons at tight end for the Packers (1970-78). The sure-handed receiver is seventh in team annals among tight ends with 175 career receptions. McGeorge authored a standout year in 1975 with 32 receptions for 458 yards and one touchdown. Overall, McGeorge’s 175 career receptions garnered 2,370 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Both former Packers players will be introduced on Lambeau Field during pregame festivities.
