Hilbert's Moreau Named Named Packers High School Coach Of The Week

Mike Moreau of Hilbert High School has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week for the final award of the 2005 season, the Packers announced Thursday.

The 2003 inductee to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame has completed his 25th season of coaching the Wolves. He also served 16 years as athletics director and three years as an assistant coach. He is in his 31st year as physical education teacher at Division 7 Hilbert.

After coaching six teams to the state championship, winning three of those contests, Moreau finished with an amazing 205-56 career record. The Wolves finished the 2005 season 8-4 after losing to Pacelli, 7-0, in the third round of the Level III playoffs.

After playing as a prep under George Guisck at Iron Mountain (Mich.) High School he attended Northern Michigan University. Moreau oversees a varsity squad of 34 (68 players overall) assisted by Marty Podmolik, Stan Diedrich, Jason Grenzer, Mike Breckheimer, Matt Kuhn, Eric Stumo, Tony Sweere, Al Plate, Dan Carew and Brandon Krueger.

"I've been very blessed throughout my career by having very wonderful athletes and great kids. I've also been blessed with a great coaching staff, people who work very hard. We live in a wonderful community of very supportive people who have always taken the time to watch their kids and support their program.

"I also have a very supportive family, anyone who has been in coaching knows that you have to have a supportive family. I feel like I've been very fortunate to have been in the situation I've been in."

Moreau his wife Diane have a son, Wes, and a daughter Kylie.

The Packers will recognize one outstanding high school coach as their 'Coach of the Week' winner during the 2005 high school football season. Coach of the Week winners are awarded several items and privileges, including a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL, as well as recognition of the award on www.NFLHS.com, the NFL's high school football Web site.
