Jim Flanigan Jr.: A childhood dream come true

Posted Feb 16, 2014

Packers.com's editor Vic Ketchman sat down with former Packers defensive end Jim Flanigan Jr. who talked about his 2001 season with Packers, growing up in Wisconsin, and being the son of former Packer Jim Flanigan.

Flanigan is one of only two second-generation players in team history, following in the footsteps of his father, Jim, who played linebacker for Green Bay from 1967 to 1970. Flanigan joined the Packers during the 2001 offseason when he signed with the team as a free agent. Prior to joining the Packers, Flanigan spent seven seasons with the Chicago Bears. After the Packers, he spent one season with the 49ers and one season with the Eagles. He appeared in all 16 games during his lone season with the Packers, making eight starts and racking up 46 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three passes defensed. He also saw action in both playoff games, contributing two stops.
