Ken Ellis: Green Bay was the ideal place for me

Posted Mar 23, 2014

Packers.com editor Vic Ketchman sat down with former Packers cornerback Ken Ellis who talked about his time with the Packers, comparing his era to the 60's, and how the game has changed.

Ellis, a fourth-round draft pick in 1970 from Southern University, starred at cornerback for the Packers for six seasons (1970-75). The Packers Hall of Famer was also an outstanding punt return specialist, leading the league in 1972 in punt return average (15.4 yards). On Sept. 19, 1971, against the New York Giants, Ellis returned a blocked field goal attempt 100 yards for a touchdown. The return is still the longest return of a missed field goal in franchise history. Speedy and talented, Ellis was a two-time Pro Bowler (1973-74) and two-time All-Pro (1972-73).
