Marshall named assistant offensive line coach

Posted May 7, 2014

30-year coaching veteran was most recently at New Mexico State

The Green Bay Packers named Steve Marshall their new assistant offensive line coach. The announcement was made Wednesday by Head Coach Mike McCarthy.

Marshall possesses more than 30 years of coaching experience, including six seasons in the National Football League. He was on the Houston Texans’ staff from 2002-05, serving as the assistant offensive line coach for his first two years and the offensive line coach for his final two seasons. Marshall coached the offensive line for the Cleveland Browns from 2007-08, helping the Browns tie for the third-fewest sacks allowed (19) in the league in ’07.

Marshall comes to Green Bay from New Mexico State, where he was named the offensive line coach in January 2014. Prior to that, he held the same position at Colorado from 2011-12, his second stint at the school (also 2000-01).

Marshall, a two-year letterman as a tight end and guard at Louisville, began his coaching career at Plymouth State (N.H.) in 1979. He also coached in the collegiate ranks at Tennessee (1980-81, 1993-95), Marshall (1982-83), Louisville (1984), Murray State (1985-86), Virginia Tech (1987-92), UCLA (1996), Texas A&M (1997), North Carolina (1998-99) and California (2009-10).
