Masthay is Hall Of Fame's Featured Player of the Week

Posted Dec 20, 2011

Punter Tim Masthay is the Packers Hall of Fame’s Featured Player of the Week for Week 15. In Sunday’s 14-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Masthay’s 71-yard punt in the second quarter was the longest of his career and the longest by a Green Bay punter since Jon Ryan’s 72-yarder vs. Detroit on Dec. 30, 2007.

Masthay also set single-game career highs (min. four attempts) for gross punting average (53.4) and net punting average (46.2). The gross average ranks No. 4 in franchise history and the net average ranks No. 3 in team annals.

Each week, a game-used football will be placed on display to be viewed by visitors to the Hall and at the end of the week will be awarded randomly to a Hall of Fame visitor who signed up for the drawing.

Also in the exhibit will be the featured player’s jersey, as well as potentially other items such as a face mask, shoes, gloves and other equipment.

The exhibit opened Sept. 12 and will continue through the season. Hall of Fame admission is required to see the exhibit, and visitors are able to fill out a drawing form for a chance to win the ball. One drawing ticket will be distributed per each paid admission. Drawing winners will be selected at close of business Saturday and be notified on or before the following Monday.

The winners of game balls thus far have been Tom Cota of Gillett, Wis. (Week 1, Randall Cobb), Mary Joe Benner of Mason City, Iowa (Week 2, Charles Woodson), Jacob Peters of Gambrills, Md. (Week 3, Jermichael Finley), Christine Bagley of Dalton, Wis. (Week 4, Aaron Rodgers), Brian Guhl of Wichita, Kansas (Week 5, James Jones),Robert Gross of Slinger, Wis. (Week 6, Jordy Nelson) Micah Ganske from Beaver Dam, Wis. (Week 7, Mason Crosby), Gail Olson from Watertown, Wis. (Week 9, Charlie Peprah), Curt Osterheld from Vienna, Va. (Week 10, Clay Matthews), Jennifer Beck from Springtown, Texas (Week 11, Jordy Nelson), Brett Patten from Mequon, Wis. (Week 12, James Jones), and Jeff Little from Sandpoint, Idaho (Week 13, Donald Driver) and Ryan Gerth from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Week 14, Ryan Grant).

The featured player will be selected after each game and will be announced on Packers.com. Packers.com also will feature a photo of the display at the beginning of each week.

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Hours may vary on gamedays and holidays.
