    ‘Project Play 60’, the Green Bay Packers’ event that is focused on getting kids out of the house to enjoy non-strenuous physical activity, is set for Saturday, March 7.

    The free community event is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will take place in both the Lambeau Field Atrium and the Legends Club on the fourth floor. Parking will be free for guests participating in Project Play 60, and attendees may enter the Atrium through the Oneida Nation Gate, American Family Insurance Gate or Miller Lite Gate.

    The Green Bay Packers announced plans for the 10th anniversary ‘Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour,’ set for April 14-18. This year’s tour includes three stops in western Wisconsin, in addition to stops in southern and eastern Wisconsin, to visit with fans and thank them in person for their support.

    Tour celebrities will include Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, players Andrew Quarless, Micah Hyde and Casey Hayward, and Packers alumni Gilbert Brown, Antonio Freeman and Bill Schroeder. The tour will also feature special alumni in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Tailgate Tour, Dave Robinson and Jerry Kramer.

Masthay named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Packers P Tim Masthay has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. Among his accomplishments noted from the Week 2 victory over Chicago:

  • Masthay threw the first touchdown pass of his career and punted five times for a 47.6 gross average in the Packers’ 23-10 win over Chicago.

  • In the second quarter with the Packers leading 3-0, Green Bay faced a fourth-and-26 situation at the Chicago 27-yard line. The Packers lined up for a field goal but executed a fake, ending with Masthay throwing a 27-yard touchdown pass to TE Tom Crabtree. It was the first TD pass by a Green Bay punter since November 19, 1972 when Ron Widby threw a 68-yard touchdown to Dave Davis.

  • Masthay placed three of his punts inside the 20-yard line and had a net average of 42.0 yards per punt. He limited Chicago’s Devin Hester to two returns and eight yards (4.0 average).

  • In his third season from Kentucky, this is Masthay’s third career Player of the Week Award (Week 8, 2010 and Week 13, 2011).

  • Masthay is the first punter to be named Special Teams Player of the Week in each of his first three NFL seasons.

Also in the NFC, Giants WR Hakeem Nicks and Cardinals DE Calais Campbell were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

In the AFC, Dolphins RB Reggie Bush got the offensive award, Texans DE J.J. Watt the defensive award, and Bengals PR-CB Adam Jones the special teams honors.
