Matt Molle, of Seymour High School, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

Molle is in his second season as head coach and fifth with the Seymour program. After qualifying for the playoffs in 2005, the Thunder is off to a 4-1 start. By virtue of its 34-14 victory over previously unbeaten Pulaski last Friday, Seymour sits atop the Bay Conference standings. Seymour plays at DePere High School on Friday.

"I would like to thank the Green Bay Packers for presenting this special award," Molle said. "It's a reflection on our coaching staff and players, and we hope to continue to do things well here at Seymour."

Molle and his staff oversee a program of 80 players, including a varsity squad of 50. He is assisted by Dave Bauer, Todd VanDeHei, Dale Volkman, Kevin Van Vonderen, Curt Jefson, Jason Setliff, Greg Baranczyk, Matt Havlovitz and Mark Schmoll.

Molle attended Niagara (Wis.) High School, where he played football under Dan St. Arnauld. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. He began his coaching career at Loyal (Wis.) High School where he spent four seasons as an assistant coach. He joined the Seymour staff as an assistant in 2003 and was promoted to head coach prior to the 2005 season. He is married to Amber and has three children, Maddy, Carson, and Evelyn.

The Packers will recognize one outstanding high school coach as their 'Coach of the Week' winner during the 2006 high school football season. Winners are awarded several items and privileges, including a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL, as well as recognition of the award on www.NFLHS.com, the NFL's high school football Web site.

Nominations for Coach of the Week should be submitted by 9 a.m. every Monday to Cathy A. Dworak, manager of community relations, at coachoftheweek@packers.com (e-mail) or by fax at (920) 569-7302. Please include the nominee's name, address, school, phone number, and reason he/she is deserving of the award.
