Packers Hall of Fame offers e-field trip focusing on football safety for children in grades three th

Posted Aug 14, 2013

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is offering a different kind of field trip — one that doesn’t require leaving school. The new “Packers Hall of Fame E-Field Trip with Kris Broderick allows students to learn about football health and safety through webcasts with Packers strength and conditioning coordinator Mark Lovat and Packers assistant equipment manager Bryan Nehring.

Packers Hall of Fame coordinator Kris Broderick will connect to the schools through a video conference system at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay during each e-field trip to lead the students through activities and live discussion. The field trip is offered to any school (grades three through six).

Each session begins with a review of football vocabulary, followed by a discussion on how Packers players prepare for each game. A video of Lovat demonstrating some player exercises will be shown, and the children will have the opportunity to try the same exercises following the video.

Another component features an interview of Nehring discussing the importance of the correct equipment, followed by a comparison of equipment from previous eras and equipment used today. A Q-and-A session with Broderick will conclude the e-field trip.

“The Packers are excited to offer this field trip to interested schools everywhere,” said Broderick. “Educating our youth on sports safety is a top priority, and we love the chance to also teach kids about the history of our organization while we do it.”
