The Green Bay Packers and Kemps today announced the culmination of the “Gallons for Good” program that, through a donation to the Kids In Need Foundation (KINF), will provide free school supplies to more than 1,000 children in need in the Green Bay and Cedarburg Public School Districts.
The program committed a portion of every gallon of Kemps Select Milk sold in August and September to KINF, up to $40,000. A portion of the supplies will be distributed to the Green Bay Public School District at an event in the Tundra Tailgate Zone at Lambeau Field on Monday, Oct. 14. The remainder of the supplies will be delivered to the Cedarburg Public School District later in the week.
“Kemps has been a great partner to the Green Bay Packers for six years,” said Bill Hawker, Green Bay Packers manager of corporate sales. “When Kemps partnered with us, they not only partnered with the Packers, but with Wisconsin communities. Through the Gallons for Good program, Kemps is showing their commitment to our local communities and schools and we are honored to be a part of it.”
It is estimated that 18 percent of children in Wisconsin currently live below the poverty line and often go without the school supplies necessary to succeed in school, according to Children’s Defense Fund. The Wisconsin schools that will receive supplies from the Gallons for Good program were identified by KINF and the school districts as having at least 70 percent of their students enrolled in the federal free and reduced lunch program.
In addition to helping more than 1,000 Wisconsin students, the program is also donating school supplies to 3,000 students in Minnesota, bringing the total to 4,000 students that will receive supplies in the two states.
