Packers Women's Association to hold 27th annual food drive Oct. 20

Posted Oct 16, 2013

Fans attending Packers-Browns game encouraged to donate non-perishable food, cash.

The Packers Women’s Association (PWA) is teaming up with UnitedHealthcare and Packers fans for the 27th Annual Food Drive for Paul’s Pantry prior to the Green Bay Packers-Cleveland Browns game on Oct. 20 at Lambeau Field. This year’s effort is headed by co-chairwomen Laura Hawk, wife of Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk, and Ericka Whitt, wife of Packers secondary-cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr.

Prior to kickoff, PWA members will collect non-perishable food items and cash donations in the stadium parking lot and at the gates. Each PWA member will be wearing the jersey of her husband or significant other, or a PWA jersey. Food items can be placed in bins located throughout the Lambeau Field parking lots.

Volunteers from UnitedHealthcare, and Paul’s Pantry, a supplementary food distribution program for the needy in the greater Green Bay area, will be assisting with the collection and wearing PWA pins.

“We’re happy for the opportunity to continue our food drive for a 27th year,” Laura Hawk, co-chairwoman of the Packers Women’s Association food drive said. “The drive is always very successful and we are pleased to once again partner with UnitedHealthcare to continue tackling hunger and giving back to the community that has supported the Packers for so many years.”

As an added incentive to donate to the food drive, fans have an opportunity to win Packers autographed items. For every $5 donation or five non-perishable food items contributed, a fan will receive a ticket stub. The winning ticket numbers will be drawn and announced on the scoreboard during the game. Fans with winning ticket stubs can pick up their prizes at the guest services desk in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Packers, Packers Women’s Association and Paul’s Pantry to make a difference in the lives of Wisconsin residents, and to ensure they have access to fresh, nutritious food,” said Wendy Arnone, president and CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin.

Overall, in 26 years of conducting the food drive, the PWA has collected approximately 971,981 non-perishable food items and $276,541 for Paul’s Pantry.
