Packers accepting nominations for Community QB Award

Posted Sep 20, 2012

Award, funded by Humana and NFL Charities, is in 13th year of recognizing volunteers

The Green Bay Packers currently are accepting nominations for the Community Quarterback Award, presented by Humana, Inc.
Funded by the Green Bay Packers, NFL Charities and Humana, the Community Quarterback Award recognizes outstanding volunteers within the state of Wisconsin. Non-profit (501(c)(3) or 509) organizations are invited to nominate exceptional volunteers who demonstrate leadership, dedication and a commitment to bettering their communities through volunteerism.
The Community Quarterback Award is for volunteers who are not compensated for their services and have served a minimum of one year with their organization. Two recipients will be selected in each of the following categories, for a total of 10 award recipients: Volunteer leadership (board member), youth (age 13 to 17), adult (age 18 to 65), senior (over the age of 65), and small group (five or fewer volunteers).
New this year, Humana will be matching all funds received by NFL Charities, raising the total amount awarded to $40,000, with each volunteer receiving $4,000 for his or her respective charity. In addition to the grants, each winner will also receive two tickets and tailgate passes, provided by Humana, for the Dec. 23 contest against the Tennessee Titans.
”It’s an honor for Humana to recognize the valuable contributions of volunteers of all ages in Wisconsin,” said Jerry Ganoni, president of Humana’s small business and specialty products in Green Bay. “Volunteers have an immeasurable impact on the well-being of others in our communities, and this award brings attention to the difference volunteers make. We’re also proud to help provide financial support to these award recipients’ favorite charity.”
Applications currently are available online at http://www.packers.com/community/community-programs/community-quarterback.html. The deadline for nomination submission is Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.
Further information can be obtained through the Packers’ community outreach department at 920/569-7500 or via e-mail at Donations@packers.com.
