Packers re-sign CB Sam Shields

Undrafted four years ago, Shields tied his regular-season career high with four interceptions in 2013.

The Green Bay Packers have re-signed CB Sam Shields. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing Monday.

In 2013, Shields started 14 games for Green Bay and tallied a career-high 64 tackles (57 solo), a career-high-tying four INTs and a team-leading 25 passes defensed (also a career high). He joined the Packers as non-drafted free agent out of the University of Miami in 2010 and has appeared in 53 games with 35 starts during his four seasons with the club. For his career, Shields has posted 165 tackles (138 solo), 64 passes defensed, 13 interceptions, one forced fumble and one sack.
