Packers sign G Joe Gibbs to practice squad

Posted Nov 19, 2012

The Green Bay Packers signed G Joe Gibbs to the practice squad and released G Justin Cheadle from the practice squad. The transactions were announced Monday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Gibbs, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound first-year player out of Tennessee-Martin, entered the NFL with the St. Louis Rams as a non-drafted free agent in June 2010. He was with the Rams until he was released late that preseason. Gibbs most recently played with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League. He was a four-year starter at Tennessee-Martin, where he twice earned All-Ohio Valley Conference recognition. Gibbs will wear No. 73 for the Packers.
