Key stat: Caught 10 fewer passes in 2012 than in 2011, but improved his yards per catch by 30 percent (12.2 to 15.9).

Notable: A junior college player who was originally headed to Tennessee, ended up not going there after Lane Kiffin left. Wound up at Cincinnati playing for head coach Butch Jones, who was the college coach of Thompkins’ cousin, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown, at Central Michigan.
