Todd Stoffel Of Marathon High School Named Green Bay Packers High School Coach Of The Week

Posted Oct 13, 2009

Todd Stoffel, of Marathon (Wis.) High School, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.

Stoffel is in his eighth season as head coach and 11th with the Marathon program. After qualifying for the playoffs each of the last two seasons, the Red Raiders are off to a 7-0 start in 2009. By virtue of their 21-7 victory over previously unbeaten Stratford on Oct. 2, Marathon is now positioned atop the Marawood Conference standings as the postseason approaches. Even more impressive was that the team’s win at Stratford handed the Tigers their first home loss since the 2001 season.

“Our motto is to ‘Take The Next Step’, and to beat a program like Stratford on their home field really says a lot for our players and coaches,” Stoffel said. “It also shows the commitment that has been invested over these past few years.”

Stoffel and his staff oversee a program that includes 47 players, including a varsity squad of 29. He is assisted by Adam Jacobson, Luke Jacobson, Joe Jenz, Brad Ness, Jeff Schneider, and Gary Seubert.

Stoffel attended Auburndale (Wis.) High School, where he played football under head coach Dale Yakaites. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He began his coaching career at Wilmot Union (Wis.) High School where he spent two seasons coaching the junior varsity. He joined the Marathon staff as the eighth grade coach in 1999, and was promoted to varsity head coach prior to the 2002 season.

Stoffel and his wife, Heather, have a daughter, Kendra, and a son, Nathan.

The Packers will recognize one outstanding high school coach as their 'Coach of the Week' winner during the 2009 high school football season. Winners are awarded several items and privileges, including a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL, as well as recognition of the award on packers.com.

Nominations for Coach of the Week should be submitted by 9 a.m. every Monday to Tim Schroeder, community outreach coordinator, at coachoftheweek@packers.com (e-mail) or by fax at (920) 569-7302. Please include the nominee's name, address, school, phone number, and reason he/she is deserving of the award.
