Packers have 22 players whose contracts expire Wednesday

GREEN BAY – Beginning Monday morning, NFL teams are permitted to contact and enter into negotiations with players who will become unrestricted free agents at the start of the new league year Wednesday at 3 p.m. CT.

The Packers have 22 players with expiring contracts, including nine unrestricted free agents who will count toward the compensatory formula if they sign elsewhere.

The Packers also have two other free agents, linebacker Joe Thomas and punter Jacob Schum, who must receive a restricted tender by Wednesday. If a tender is not executed, the players are free to sign elsewhere as “street” free agents.

Finally, Green Bay has 11 exclusive-rights free agents (players with fewer than three accrued NFL seasons), who can be re-signed with a one-year tender for the league minimum.

Updated (March 14): The Packers tendered contracts to nine exclusive-rights free agents: WR Geronimo Allison, CB Donatello Brown, QB Joe Callahan, WR Michael Clark, FB Joe Kerridge, G Justin McCray, G/T Adam Pankey, G Lucas Patrick and S Jermaine Whitehead.
