Packers family remembers its 2017 losses

Three of franchise's oldest alumni died

As the page is turned on 2017, the Green Bay Packers would like to pay tribute to the former players lost during the year.

The list included three of the franchise’s oldest alums: Ken Kranz, 93; Al Cannava, 93; and Bob Summerhays, 90.

Kranz, a defensive back, played in seven games in 1949 and was a product of what was then Milwaukee State Teachers College and is now UW-Milwaukee. He also was a native of Milwaukee. Cannava, a halfback, played in one game with the Packers in 1950. Summerhays, a fullback, played from 1949 to 1951.

Other former Packers who died during the year were Babe Parilli, a quarterback from 1952-53 and again from 1957-58; Jerry Helluin, a defensive tackle from 1954-57; Dan Currie, a linebacker from 1958-64; Larry Hickman, a fullback in 1960; Bill Anderson, a tight end from 1965-66; John Hilton, a tight end in 1970 and an assistant coach in 1986; Clarence Williams, a defensive end from 1970-77; Leon Harden, a safety in 1970; Bucky Scribner, a punter from 1983-84; John Thierry, a defensive end from 2000-01; and Terry Glenn, a wide receiver from 2002.

Parilli was 88; Helluin, 88; Currie, 82; Hickman, 81; Anderson, 80; Hilton, 74; Williams, 70; Harden, 69; Scribner, 57; Thierry, 46; and Glenn, 43.

Ken Crippen compiled the list for the Pro Football Researchers Association.
